Stitching temporarily on hold because The Craft Room is finally taking shape

Put together two Ikea bookcases over the weekend because the original case that was going to be reused was falling to pieces; room emptied and desk and bookcases put is - it's getting there!

Believe me, it was an improvement on what was there . Heirlooms-for-the-future would have been nice (in fact some of my stuff is in family chests of drawers at the moment) but were rather beyond the budget. It was either a craft room with Ikea bookcases and no new carpet now, or an heirloom, beautifully carpeted craft room in several years' time, and I've been waiting for this room for quite a few years already

Mutter, mutter.
Pallets + thicknesser + router + work = beautiful furniture.

Don't mind me, I'm just allergic to spending money. Sure it'll look stylish.

DH did think of creating something himself, but then realised that once he'd factored in his time, this was the better budget option even though it does mean spending actual money rather than time and effort

Very nice to have 'heirloom' furniture but you produce heirlooms. You will now have a wonderful craft room in which to create and Ikea furniture is quick to assemble and will do the job nicely.

I'm going to need another one !

I was going to have a small filing cabinet from Ikea but decided I probably wouldn't need it. As it turns out it simply wouldn't have been big enough so some time this week we're getting another rainbow tower

Patience, patience - at the moment pretty much every bit of stash from every other part of the house has been transferred to the new craft room, but for now is mostly residing on the floor and every other available surface until I get things sorted out (and get that second storage tower).
But of course you are all invited to the Grand Opening! (whenever that will be...)

Well, we did manage without one for several years (clearing it when needed for Christmas meals and so on) but it is rather nice to have it back again, it makes the dining room look much less cluttered. It's even had a polish to celebrate !

And it is just so nice to have all my stuff in one place! Well, nearly one place - there is a small chest plus an under-bed drawer in our bedroom which holds some things that I'll probably leave there, or perhaps I'll see which bits I will use least frequently and put those there, and the more used ones in the craft room - but by far the largest part of it is now in one handy little room, where it is easy to get at and no-one can interfere with it by accident!
