TEXTURES!!! This looks fantastic! Really a great expression and explosion of colours!
You can go really free style with this, can't you!

Wow, this is brilliant! So different with the fabric printed on first and then "winging it" as you say. I love your choice of colours for the sky and the stitching really makes it stand out. Can't wait to see the mountains stitched!

Thanks all! Yes I love 'winging it' and feeling free to make it up as I go. The only thing is I wish I could print a larger photo on my existing aida cloth and linen. Not sure if that's possible.

I don't like following charts and stamped kits are so expensive and I already have lots of thread and fabric.

I'll try to start the mountains today but have LOTS of leaves to rake and I go to work this afternoon.

I am finding the mountains a bit more challenging...the colors and direction of stitches matter more...and I'm using twice as many colors as the sky. I'm wishing I'd done certain areas differently, but it's still fun.

Yes, as soon as the mountains are finished.

I am definitely learning a lot. First lesson was to not pull the stitches too tight or the fabric puckers. Second is how best to slant the stitches...which greatly depends on the area to be worked. Third, it is great fun to mix colors!

 Can you tell I'm having fun? I haven't stitched in years...so glad I got back into this. ( Well, I tried cross stitching again a couple months ago and after a half hour, I remembered I didn't like following charts.)

I can feel your enthusiasm from here!
It's great that you've found something to really enjoy and get fun from learning. I'm enjoying hearing about it and seeing the results as well. :)

Yeah, and I'm already working towards my next project! I guess I'll start that thread in the SAL section when I'm ready. (I'm surprised the mods haven't moved this one.)

Great work and lovely to follow your progress from the start of the project. Great to see a different 'way' of stitching. Can't wait to see the next picture. Thanks for sharing.

Wow! That looks amazing. I'm interested to see how you do the tree's. Will you do lots of different length and sized stitches plus lay them in different directions?
This is so fascinating to watch.
