Great video clip. There must have been some notice that was going to happen to the rock or those were very lucky people to see that happen when it did. More lovely photos. Notice I am not commenting on the fact that once again not my picks here. Still at 7/10. Good luck to everyone close!

I think the people up there heard some cracking and rumbling but certainly the experts said it was a surprise although all the cliffa along there are eroding fast.

sadly none today so still 7.10

Your picture of the cliff with water at the bottom brought back memories of the big blow holes at Punakaikai on the West Coast of the South Island of NZ. Fascinating things to watch particularly on a day of high seas and winds. Thanks Lizz.

I thought someone won already so I put my list away. Then I saw that the game is still going on so I found my list and I am now at 5 / 10. LOL

Lovely views and photos. I can see why people go on walks around these beautiful landscapes, parks and ocean! When is the best time of the year to go visit all of these places in England?

Socialsue, It's difficult to say a good time for this country but probably around now is one of the best times to visit Cornwall. July-October is best but if you avoid August it is not as crowded as the childre are back at school,
But one thing yoU cannot do in England is predict the weather. And apparently the reason it is so green and lush in Cornwall is coz it rains a lot!

Numbers 2 and 13
Number 2 ~ Boscastle
Boscastle harbour is a natural inlet protected by two stone harbour walls built in 1584. It is the only significant harbour for 20 miles along the coast. As well as being a fishing harbour it was used for importing limestone and coal and exporting slate and other local produce.
It is probably best known for an amazing flash flood on a summers day 10 years ago. Here is a local account.
A flash flood on 16 August 2004 caused extensive damage to the village. Residents were trapped in houses as the roads turned into rivers: people were trapped on roofs, in cars, in buildings and on the river's banks. and the village's visitor centre was washed away. Two Royal Air Force Westland Sea King rescue helicopters from Chivenor, three Royal Navy Sea Kings from Culdrose, one RAF Sea King from St Mawgan and one Coastguard S61 helicopter from Portland searched for and assisted casualties in and around the village.
The operation was coordinated by the Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre (ARCC) based at RAF Kinloss in Scotland in the largest peacetime rescue operation ever launched in the UK. A total of 91 people were rescued and there were no fatalities, only one broken thumb. Around 50 cars were swept into the harbour and the bridge was washed away, roads were submerged under 2.75 m of water, making communication effectively impossible until flood-waters subsided. The sewerage system burst, and for this range of health and safety reasons Boscastle was declared temporarily inaccessible.
Boscastle was flooded again on 21 June 2007 although the scale of destruction was not nearly as serious as in 2004.

My boys in the river on a quiet day in Boscastle.

Number 13 ~ St Ives
Beaches in St Ives and Carbis Bay are amongst the most beautiful in Europe and are noted for their clean and sparkling seawater and their outstanding beach facilities. St Ives has various beaches ideal for surfing, families, swimming, sunbathing and, of course, perfect sand for sandcastles! In fact there are four different beaches around the town.
It has long been known to have a fantastic light to the place and because of that has been and still is very popular with artists, in fact there is a branch of the Tate there.

...and yes, it's a BINGO!

Now I need to start saving for a trip. :D

:applesauce: :applesauce: CONGRATULATIONS KETTA. How wonderful you go there first.

I had St Ives - of course - giving me 8/10. Why of course. Because when I was a child we learnt the rhyme " As I was going to St ives I met a man with 7 wives" but what comes after is lost in the mists of time. !!

Thanks Lizz for a wonderful tour of your favourite part of the country. Its been amazing. :stars: :stars: :stars: :stars:
