"Walkin in a Winter Wonderland" brings me to 6/10 and a song that I can't stop humming, despite the fact that I don't know all the words.

7/10 today with Winter Wonderland.
Unfortunately, the beautiful cold Winter Wonderland we we have been enjoying for the last little while has turned back into "sloppy Vancouver wet".

Here are the lyrics to Winter Wonderland to keep you humming (and to keep in mind the pristine new-fallen snow):

Aloha ... ohhh, looks like we'll be hearing the B word very soon. Good luck!

DAY 10

25. The First Noel

1. Adeste Fideles

25. The original version of The First Noel dates back to at least the 17th century. In 1823 William Sandys and Davies Gilbert added lyrics and edited existing words, creating today's version. Sandys' "Christmas Carols Ancient and Modern," published in 1823, was the first compilation to include many carols that are now considered classics, including God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, and The First Noel. "Noel" is French and "Nowell" is English, both from Latin "natalis" meaning birth.

1. Although Adeste Fideles / O Come All Ye Faithful is often attributed to John Francis Wade's "Cantus Diversi" (1751), many other possible authors have been identified. The oldest manuscript of the hymn was found in a royal library in Portugal, dating before Wades' collection. It is thought that King John IV of Portugal (1604-1656), called The Musician King, may have written it for his daughter Catherine to bring to England for her marriage to King Charles II. Among the many translations, the most commonly sung English version was by Frederick Oakeley and William Brooke in 1852.

I won't be uttering the "B" word today.
Still sitting at 7/10 but so much smarter with your great info.
Should come in handy over the holidays to dazzle people with my knowledge.

Day 11

4. Away in a Manger

15. I'll Be Home for Christmas

4. The first two verses of Away in a Manger were published in May 1884 by the Universalist Publishing House in Boston, Massachusetts. Titled Luther's Cradle Song, the article claimed that "Martin Luther, the great German reformer ... composed the following hymn for his children...." However, words to the hymn were never found among Luther's works, so it is thought that they may have been specifically written for Luther's 400th anniversary in 1884 but credited to him to gain more attention. In 1892 a third verse and music were published, again credited to Martin Luther but probably by Charles H. Gabriel.

15. Lyrics to I'll Be Home for Christmas were written in 1942 by Kim Gannon, with music by Walter Kent. A lawsuit ensued because Buck Ram had previously written a poem and song with the same title. In the settlement Ram was to be included in the song credits. Bing Crosby recorded the song in 1943, and it became an immediate top 10 hit. In December 1965 the Gemini 7 astronauts requested Mission Control to play the song for them (and they were home by Christmas).
