Bingo- Wild Cats - There's a winner!

Post by Tyledres »

Hope this was worth the wait but it's Wild Cat's Bingo.

There are 30 numbers this time. Choose your 10 numbers and send a pm to me with your list by Saturday 18th of June and I will start my first pics on Monday the 20th of June.

I will be posting up a picture of the selected cat along with some information about them. I'll try to have something more intersting than just their size and where they live. (example, if I draw 21 or 27 the reason panthers are not on that list will be revealed.)

:whoop: Wild Cats :whoop:

1. Cheetah
2. Canadian Lynx
3. Clouded Leopard
4. Caracal
5. Geoffroy's Cat
6. Lion
7. Black-Footed Cat
8. Tiger
9. Bay Cat
10. Serval

23. Cougar
24. Rusty-Spotted Cat
25. Fishing Cat
26. Margay
27. Leopard
28. Snow Leopard

Winner will be the first to get 10 and the first to pm “Bingo” to me.
The prize – the winner will be invited to choose from a custom needleminder and either a selection of items from my stash or a new grime guard. (No, I'm not making them, I've got a good source for them though).
The winner will of course host the next bingo.

It's time to start the Wild Cat BINGO!
Today's numbers are:

14. Jaguarundi

Image

Jaguarundi are about twice the size of a house cat and are native to central and southern America. The Jaguarundi come in two distinct colors: brownish grey and chestnut. Fun fact - Jaguarundi are one of the only felines not to have contrasting colors on the back of their ears.

http://www.encyclopedia.com/topic/Jaguarundi.aspx

11. Andean Mountain Cat

Image

The Andean Mountain Cat is only found in the rocky-arid and semi-arid zones of the Andes Mountains of Chile, Argentina, Bolivia and Peru well above the timberline. Very little is known about these cats because of how few wild sightings scientists have been able to make.

7. Black-Footed Cat

Image

The Black-Footed Cat is Africa's smallest wild cat and is among the smallest of the wild cat species. They are found only in three countries of southern Africa: Botswana, Namibia and South Africa. This cat is called the black-footed cat because the underside of the paw and the paw pads are black. These cats are poor climbers and are able to get all the moisture they need from their prey.

Day 2 Picks!
I'm posting later than I had intended. Was up way too late last night, trying to finish a page of cross-stitch. Finally stopped when my cat came by and demanded a snuggle. Next thing I know I'm waking up. Anyway, here's what you're really here for:

8. Tiger

Image

The largest of the felines, Tigers are found in South and Southeast Asia and the far east of Russia. The tiger enjoys swimming and will spend the hottest parts of the day submerged in water. Unfortunately the tiger is an endangered species and there are more tigers in captivity than there are tigers in the wild.

http://bigcatrescue.org/tiger-facts/

30. Bobcat

Image

The bobcat is the most common of the North American cats. They are found ranging from southern Canada to southern Mexico. Bobcats are usually solitary and territorial animals, females never share territory with each other. Male territories, however, tend to overlap. They are powerful animals that are able to pounce on their prey from up to three meters away allowing bobcats to hunt animals that may be up to double their own size.

22. Sand Cat

Image

The sand cat is one of the smallest wild cats and is the only cat to live primarily in the desert. Sand cats occur across the Sahara Desert, from Morocco to Egypt and the Sudan in the east. They also occur in the Middle East and there is thought to be a very small population in Central Asia. These cats are quite adept at surviving in the desert, their foot coverings allow them to walk on sand without sinking, leaving their footprints nearly invisible. These cats are also master diggers, building burrows for themselves and also allowing them to dig up prey.

Day 3 Picks

16. Pampas Cat

Image

This small wild cat is about the size of a large house cat and is found in western and southern South America. The Pampas cat is part of a group of three cats that scientists have difficulty with classifying. The Pampas cat, the Colocolo, and the Pantanal (one of the cats I cut to get the list to 30) are sometimes considered the same species because of their similarities and the way they intermingle but differences in coat type and habitat range have others considering them three different species.

http://bigcatrescue.org/pampas-cat-facts/
http://www.wildcatconservation.org/wild ... ampas-cat/

29. Eurasian Lynx

Image

The Eurasian Lynx is also called Siberian Lynx and is the largest of the lynx cats. They can be found in from western Europe, Russia, and central Asia. Their rear legs are longer than their front limbs and their paws are broad and well-furred for walking in the snow.

http://bigcatrescue.org/siberian-lynx-facts/

27. Leopard

Image

Leopards are the smallest of the four cat from the "big cats" family which includes lions, tigers, and jaguars. Leopards are usually brown with black spots that for a rosette pattern but sometimes a color variation called melanism occurs and the leopard appears to be black instead. These animals are commonly called black panthers. Leopards are found throughout Africa, from the Arabian Peninsula through Asia to Manchuria and Korea. Leopards are avid climbers and spend the day sleeping in tree branches.

Here's an image of a melanistic leopard:

I love this subject (no surprise that I would love something focused on felines) even though I still only have 1/10. With 3 picks a day though I'm bound to start catching up? Still love it though.

28 Snow Leopard

Image

The snow leopard is found in the mountains from Afghanistan to Kazakstan and Russia in the north to India and China in the east. China contains about 60% of snow leopard habitat. The snow leopard is specially adapted for survival in harsh cold climates. Their unique coloring provides camouflage in the rocky and barren terrain. They also have a dense coat year round and will wrap their long tail around themselves for added warmth.

15 Oncilla

Image

Oncilla are a small cat found in the forests of eastern South America. They are also known as little spotted cat, little tiger cat, tiger cat, tigrillo, and cunaguaro. Most Oncilla are spotted but about one fifth of all oncillas are completely black. This type of oncilla usually inhabits more dense parts of the forests.

20 Leopard Cat

Image

The leopard cat is found in 21 Asian countries, from southern India north to the Russian Far East and down though tropical southeast Asia. This is a small cat with 12 sub-species. Some feel the sub-species should be classified as spereate species and others think that certain species of cat should be classified as a sub-species of the leopard cat. There is some thought that unlike with other cat species, both the males and females have a part in raising young kittens. The leopard cat is the wild cat ancestor of the domestic breed the bengal cat.
