Starry Night with Tardis

I started this yesterday using a 45"W x 29"H afghan material. It's 18 ct. evenweave and I'll be stitching it 6 over 2.

I've never stitched an afghan before. I've never stitched over 2 before.I've never used evenweave before. I've never worked such a complicated pattern before. I have about half the colors needed, so I'll start with those.

The grid is every five stitches to make it easier for me. It took me a while to figure out how to stitch over the 5" blocks that are already on the material. Don't know yet how I will finish this one, but it will definitely need a backing material.

Intriguing! Can't imagine how it will develop as an afghan. :) :thinks:

WOW. I will definitely be interested in seeing how this comes out. I have toyed with the idea of doing HAED's on an afghan but couldn't think how that would look. I think it will be beautiful.

Wow, this will be awesome. Are you worried it will be too stiff with all that solid stitching? I've never stitched this way so have no idea.

Not really, if it's stiff it'll still look nice over the couch or on the bed.

Shouldn't be stiff at all. I have never had one that ended up stiff. I do have them covering chairs and sofas (very good for hiding where cats scratch furniture they aren't supposed to)

The design area will be 27.5"W x 22.2"h (69.9 cm by 56.4 cm)

I put fray check around the edges for now. I was thinking about stitching on a black or black and gold border so the 'painting' looks framed. Then fold down the edges and sew on a fleece backing.

Never having done any of that though.....

This will be worked in rotation with the other three wips in my sig. This weekend its Elk and Mountains.

Great idea! I'm very interested in how this turns out. I was thinking of trying an HAED on afghan material as well.
