I was going to start on Faery Tales first, but the fabric I ordered for that is delayed and I want to get going, so I'm starting this in the meantime.

I got all of my floss on sale (for this and Faery Tales) for around 27 cents each this weekend and the Aida was 50% off as well. I got it all bobbined and labelled. Tonight I started gridding and then began stitching!!

I wanted to use a scroll frame for this, but I got the cheap ones and they're going back the next time I go into the city. The rods won't all fit through the side bars and those that do don't lay straight and square. I'll give another type a try later as I like the idea. I'm using a hoop for now.

I'm stitching in 18 ct Aida, 2 over 1. Below is my floss all organized and my project as it is right now. So far I've just done the first few black parts. I'm using my iPad for the chart...I can zoom in and out as needed. So far that seems to be infinitely better than a print out.

I am so going to love watching you stitch this one. I think I have had it in and out of my wish list a dozen times. Mostly its out to make it a little more difficult for it to jump into the cart (as HAED charts have a habit of doing), and then back in again because it is so cute. Also because it reminds me of a cat I once had named Pippen. So I am so glad to see someone stitching this one. :D

Well I just had to go and have a look - it is gorgeous but I will watch you stitch it - I have an over abundance of "stuff" around so -- sorry for the noise - just me pulling up the bench and getting comfortable to watch you stitching it.

I'm looking forward to this one :) you are very organised, I have 3 bobbin boxes with a vast range of threads but when I'm doing a design I make cards with holes like they do in kits, it gets a bit messy though I may have a rethink about this now I've seen yours! :)

So very neat!!

How are you finding the iPad, can you highlight the ones you've done?

So far it is going well. I'm using the "PDF-notes" app to open the PDF and it will let you highlight, annotate, etc. There is a free version and a paid version for $10. For these purposes, the free version seems to be just fine. The ads are somewhat annoying but that is the price of getting it free. :D

Haha. I just started with this craft and already have too much stuff around. Combined with my other craft stuff, I've got nearly 10 big boxes of various craft stuff. All of the rest of my possessions, not including clothing, will fit in about 3!

I've been wondering how people used the iPad this way. I think I might give it a try. I couldn't figure out how you were able to open a PDF file. Just got my iPad and learning a lot. I think it would be great for back up and for those times that it is hard to differentiate between symbols. Thanks for the info about the app.

The iBooks app that comes with the iPad will open PDFs but won't let highlighting take place, so that is why I found the alternative. There are other alternatives as well that are probably just as good...I just found that one first. :D

I love iPad as it lets me zoom in on the charts as much as I want, keeps the charts in order always, and pages won't get lost. I did print off the floss key just in case my drawing of the code on the floss bobbins wasn't quite right.

Great start!

I use my iPad for Chatelaine charts but on my HAEDs, I use highlighters too much, just couldn't get the hang of highlighting on my iPad. I did try but...

Here is what I've gotten done in the last week...a leaf is starting to come out. a coworker let me borrow an 8 inch qsnap. I  it. Once my next paycheck arrives, I'm going to have to order one! Infinitely better than hoop.
