We Are Family

Post by Pengwenn »

I hate backstitching but I loved this pattern enough that I had an idea to stitch one for each family group. I started in in DMC varigrated and did perfect french knots for the eyes but I had to frog everything because you couldn't see the lighter color on the fabric. Then I picked out the color Daydream by Dinky Dyes and I loved how that color looks like. I stitch this one up for me as an experiment to see if I could do 6 more. It wasn't too bad. I used 14ct light pink Aida but I think I'll do the others on 28ct over 2 to make all the fractionals a little easier. I got the other 6 colors of Dinky Dyes now I've just got to find the right fabric colors to do with them. This is mine completed. I experimented with the smoke color and I would have liked to have done it a shade lighter I didn't have the color and I didn't want to wait to finish it. It could use a good wash and iron but I love how the colors work.

That's from Ursula Michael, right? I just did her "Let's Marry" and I feel the same way about back stitching. I did have a blast doing it. Yours looks great!

:applesauce: :applesauce: I think that is beautiful. I love the effect of the variegated threads also! I don't mind backstitching and this would be wonderful to do. I will have to add this to my "I hope I get to this one day while I can still stitch list"
