Harvest Basket *Finished 9-10-14*

Post by calico »

On a whim, while browsing the latest issue of Just Cross-Stitch ( sept/Oct), I saw this Harvest basket and decided I had to stitch it! I just couldn't wait to get my hands on those Fall colors! I've decided to use some 18ct Fiddler's cloth from Charles Craft I had in my stash and I really love it! Never used it before. I've also decided 18ct is my favorite ct. to work on :)

Your pictures aren't showing up for some reason Calico. I'm pretty sure I know what design you are stitching and I can't wait to see your pictures of it

Fixed it  Sometimes things are just painful to do on the iPad :tantrum: and posting more than one pic in a thread is one of them. I should save myself some frustration and just get off the couch and go over to my computer from the get-go

Great start on a lovely fall pattern!

I like the effect of fiddler's cloth too. I used it on my Lifestyles of the Stitcher recent project.

:applesauce: Beautiful start! Those fall colors are stunning and the cloth is perfect. I have never used that fabric. Is it a form of Aida or an evenweave? I could look it up, but you aren't the only one having a lazy moment. Even lazier than you because I could look it up without moving, since my iPad is in my lap right now.

But where's the challenge in that? :-) (What did we all do before we had our iPads? I can't even remember...)

I love that design and your start is fantastic. I've never used Fiddler's Cloth, either, but I've seen it. What do you like about it? I like soft fabric with holes easy to find but not so easy that they are huge. And I, too, love 18 count, followed closely by 16.

 I do believe it is a form of Aida. It feels to me like a cross between Aida and linen. It has slightly irregular fibers but not slubby like linens can be. There are some other fibers weaved in that give it a homespun look and feel. I forgot to mention, I'm using Lt. oatmeal color

I like it first and foremost because it is softer than any Aida I've ever used. Granted, I do a lot of kits and that Aida is like cardboard  . So this has a nice soft feel but not as much drape as something like Jobelan. Nice small holes so I think you would like it. I tend to like fabric with a country, homespun look as it fits my style and this fabric provides that.

Then Fiddler's Cloth is pertfect. It's easy to work with and just lends itself pertfectly to country-style designs. You're project is going to look great. :)
