This is my first attempt at converting a photo to a chart. I didn't muck around with the chart at all. With hindsight, I could've taken a bit of the background out, but I actually quite like the doors of that old building.

I'm a huge fan of Madness so I'm really enjoying doing this project

Anyway, the chart comes out at 231w x 318h and is 16 full pages plus 4 with 48x13 on the bottom.

Here's what it should look like (in many months time!):

And here's after one full page and a bit (I've started in the bottom right corner):

Wow, it looks great!

I've been thinking as well converting a photo to a chart, but I'm a little bit hesitating of the result. If it looks ok at my computer screen, will it be ok in a real life too? :neutral:

I'm talking about the shades of colours and how they should look like natural shading.

Hi Nina

The programme I'm using is a free download, which I found in the Tips and Tricks section. At the moment, it seems to be interpreting the colours OK and I'm really impressed with the detail considering it's free software

Well...I've bought a program but don't have a courage to use it :oops:

These need so much time and effort, so I have to be sure it will be ok. But maybe I should give it a try, especially your has turned out so wonderful

Cockneystitcher - the chart came out at 68 colours, some of the variations are very slight though.

I've been looking through some of the other SAL's and the work being done by people on here is absolutely amazing :applesauce:

Page 2 is coming along a bit quicker because there's bigger blocks of colour - I'll hopefully have an update pic up within a week. I'm off work next week so I'm hoping to get quite a bit done then as well although I really ought to do some housework at some point :doh:
