Swan Lake FINISHED!

Post by poppy »

This project is on 28 count and I am struggling a bit with it. May I just post progress to spur me on?
This is the Cover of the kit

This is where I am at (done all the cygnets, "just" the ripples and the swan to do)

It looks like you have a good amount of progress done already. I think the dark background really makes the swans pop! Whatever troubles you have been faced with will be worth it when you complete your beautiful project. :D

Happy Stitching!

Warm Regards,

It is surprising just how much harder it is to stitch on black (3 of my 5 projects have been on black).

You're doing a good job, and we will love to see your progress reports.

Regards,

Richard

:applesauce: :applesauce: Beautiful. This is going to be stunning when it is finished! Getting used to the higher count fabric can take some time if you aren't used to it. Please post as many updates as you need to, especially with a piece like this which, for me, would be difficult stitching because of the black fabric. We will be more than glad to encourage and motivate and :poke: you if you need a :poke: now and then.
I, for one, will love to watch this grow!

It looks great! It's a pretty design and the black is perfect...but what a bear to stitch on. Keep posting updates on this; it's fantastic.

Thank you, everyone. You are all very kind and encouraging! :) This will certainly spur me on to keep on stitching and show updates!

Once finished and framed, I will display it on the wall facing , when going down the stairs. There, it won't fade with the daylight and I can see it often!

This kit has a little story : When I worked full time, I used to browse in my local craft shop during my lunch hour. I spotted this kit as I really love swans. It was half price but I did not buy it as I had already a backlog of kits to stitch.
Soon after, in conversation, I mentioned the kit to my husband and told him how sensible I was, resisting to temptation.
When I went back to the shop, to browse again the kit had gone.
Six months down the line, on my birthday, my husband produced the kit!!! :king:

@rotfl: those ducklings are gorgeous. Great progress in this fabulous design. You are going really well with it in spite of it being on black fabric - well done.

Beautiful progress black is difficult to stitch on I had a dark navy blue Winnie the Pooh sampler to sew once, but gave up so anyone who works on dark fabrics has my admiration :applesauce: Love the design and would love to see more :applesauce:

Finished the beak today. Stitching with black thread on black evenweave was interesting ( I could not see anything  ) It was only on a tiny bit, thankfully.
How some of you stitch fantastic big projects on dark fabric with dark threads, I don't know! :)
I ran out of white. I never ran out of thread in a kit before :(
Ordered the same DMC skein with the same code but it does look different.... I found another white in my stash which might be ok.
Just the neck, ripples and outline to do...
Thanks for looking :)
