Lessa54's random stitches - updated 1/12/12

Starting a new thread to deal with any little random stuff I stitch. I usually do big projects but take breaks every so often to do some little stuff, usually on holiday/for gifts. This is a bookmark I've done for my son; the first piece I've stitched for him.

That's just adorable! I love it!

Is that part of a Janlynn kit that comes with 3 Winnie the Pooh patterns? 'Cus I think I've seen this before.

Good to see Tigger again, he seems to have got lost in a host of 'new' ideas for kids things.
Lovely stitching.

thank you everyone for your lovely comments

LadyS - it was a Designer Stitches Disney Watercolours kit that Kell sent me as part of my prize for winning the bingo ages ago. I understand that Designer Stitches have gone bust, so guess the kit is discontinued now.

Couple of updates here. First, the baby bib I've been working on. I've decided I absolutely love stitching with variegated threads, at least when I remember that I have to cross every stitch as I do it :D Have decided in the end to leave this as soft focus rather than backstitch, though tbf, that's partly to do with the irritation of stitching near the edges of the bib.

Second update - my first attempts at Hardanger! This is the first project from Mary Hickmott's Easing into Hardanger, done on 22ct Zweigart antique white hardanger fabric with DMC blanc perle #5

:applesauce: for the bib which is lovely. I also love using the variegated threads. I love the look and agree the trick is remembering to do the full x each time, though Mabel said in a thread somewhere that you get an interesting effect by doing /// and \\\ with it. Will have to try that someday.
:applesauce: for your first Hardanger. I am going to have to see if I can find that book.
One day I will do the patterns I got from Mabel. Have to sit and practice. Yours doesn't look like a first attempt at all. Lovely. and I like the white on white very much.
