Here's the first progress picture.
Image
I'm doing 2 over 1 on 22 count hardanger. It was started yesterday and due to having an ear infection and being very wobbly on my feet I've spent most of today sitting down. Well, I couldn't just sit there and do nothing could I :lol:

Great Start! (do you have an example of what the finished master piece will look like?)

I like your thinking on what-to-do when you can't get up out of your seat (but my reason is usually one of our 4-footed furry friends) :lol:

That's a very substantial start! Congratulations, and hope the wobbles will soon improve (or would you prefer to keep the wobbles if they give you more stitching time :-)?)

Nope.. You did the right thing ;) Can't just sit there! It's looking love so far! And the coverage is looking great! 22 is kind of hard to tell if you want to do one over 1 or two over one.. Two is looking great!

Great start, Jo! I'm glad you're stitching this, too. I found it to have lots of confetti, but still an enjoying stitch. It's nice, too, to have others sharing the journey on this one. Theresa

Thanks for all the nice comments, I've been looking forward to starting this for ages and I'm really enjoying it.
To answer a couple of questions

This isn't the best picture but it's the one from the HAED site

Realistically how long to you think this will take you to finish.

I've done some calculations;
The design is 350 stitches wide by an eyewatering 997 stitches long, equals 348,950 stitches in total. The approximately 900 stitches I've done so far have taken roughly 9 hours, so 100 stitches per hour is 3,490 hours. If I manage to stitch 3 hours every day that's 1,163 days, which is roughly 3.2 years. That's never going to happen, so I recon about 5 years. I'm 44 next week and my aim is to finish it by the time I'm 50 :shock: !!!
ETA. The doc gave me some antibiotics for the ear and I'm feeling much better today, thank you :wub:
