Aurora Cabin started Sept 24, UPDATED Nov 3

Post by Poppielli »

Hi

This is my first time on a forum for cross stitch and my first stitch along! I started the Aurora Cabin by Dimensions on Wednesday, and have given myself until Thanksgiving to complete it, although I'm hoping to have it finished sooner.

This is my first big project too, after ten years away from cross stitching. A little ambitious but I think I'm making progress quite quickly. I had intended to try out the parking method, but quickly realised that wasn't practical for me as I would hate the parked threads being in my way. So I've stuck with what I know, although - another first - I'm using a q snap!

I'll be updating progress regularly. Happy stitching !

Good morning from Chicago!

Thanks. I didn't realise I was stitching that fast as I am being super careful with it, and the q snap has taken some getting used to.

I worked for hours on it yesterday so here is my latest progress :)

:applesauce: :applesauce: You are making absolutely lovely progress on this! I am really enjoying your updates.

Chicago? I am originally from Chicago. Born and raised and lived there till a job brought me South and I discovered that you could have winter without snow and ice. Never cross stitched there but did a little embroidery, crewel and lots of crocheting (especially afghans during the winter :cold: ) Where bouts in Chicago if you don't mind my asking?

I'm on Morton Grove in the North Shore suburbs. I'm originally from England though! My husband moved here for work, and I and my two children joined him in July. It's one of the main reasons I got back into cross stitch as I suddenly have a lot of time on my hands :)

Going at this rate we won't have to wait long either!

I don't think I have ever stitched at that rate. The best I ever managed was just over 300 stitches in a day, and the next day my hand hurt so much I couldn't do more than 100. To do that continuously for days.. WOW!

Richard.

My little one was poorly yesterday so I didn't have to go out anywhere for school runs. I did have time to stitch more though while she was sleeping.

I got annoyed with the lack of tension in the q snap as it's so close to the edge of the fabric. I perused google and found the tip to use strips of fabric and now the tautness is great!

Here's yesterday's work. A lot of filling in so it doesn't seem so much progress to me...

Wow, that is really beautiful stitching and so fast! Can't wait to see more updates, but I'm feeling really slow in comparison with my 100 stitches per night. :D
