Gift of Christmas by Diane Arthurs

Post by shadyglade »

I finally got all the thread I needed to start my latest WIP. Of course, the current list in the signature is getting long ( ), but since I can't seem to settle to anything lately, I figure I will just make a little bit of progress at a time on everything all at once.

This is gift for another friend (provided I get it done and framed by Christmas): The Gift of Christmas designed by Diane Arthurs

It still feels weird doing Christmas designs when it's 100+ degrees outside...

Hoping it will go pretty quick, since about 1/2 of the design is actually just backstitch. Here's my progress so far:

Might be kind of hard to see right now, since it's white thread on white aida. I actually started in the lower left corner (the holly) but realized that if the white wasn't going to show up I would need to change fabric ASAP, but after testing it I think the white on white will be okay once finished.

Of course, speaking of finishing, this is like 4 hours of stitching I did on our road trip today. I stitch SOOOO slowly!

Who cares how quickly you stitch!! You are doing a fab job and it's a lovely design, not too fussy and jazzy, I like!!!

Hi! I think your design is fabulous! You and I are similar in that we both stitch slowly and worry about it and also that we keep starting new projects. Have you seen my signature line...take a look! I can't settle on anything lately! As long as we're having fun, that's what matters. Keep on keeping on!

I think this is a great design...you've made a great start. Christmas stitching is fun any time of the year. :D Although, with this heat, it makes me long for winter.

I agree on all counts. I have to say I'm finally at peace with being a slow stitcher. I used to stress over it until finally the light bulb over my head went off and I realized speed doesn't mattcher, just the joy each stitch brings.

(And I really love the sentiment expressed in this one...something I would wish for everyone.)

Normally I try not to let it bother me, but since this is a Christmas present (and I have several others also currently in progress) I'm a little worried about deadlines. Oh well, nothing like belated Christmas in February to lighten things up, right?
