I always use beads as a replacement for french knots, i'm useless at them!

Sorry for being the oddball but I love french knots and always use them.

The picture is coming on great. Love the little birds.

I don't even know what those are.

I never thought about beads. Would I still be able to frame it under glass if I use beads?

Pengwenn, for a clear tutorial on colonial knots (which I use all the time as I can't get my french knots to work) have a look at this video; the first knot she gets her hand in the way  , but the others are very clear indeed!
Or for a simple diagram, look here

Oh wow thanks Mabel. I have never minded french knots once I got the hang of them but did wonder if there was another way. Thankyou.

Pengwenn the stitching is coming along really well!

Well I've finished the words Bless and our and I got have of the letter H done today. I'm pretty sure I can finish the top wording tomorrow so I'll post an updated photo then. I'm going to do the family name in red but I haven't picked out a good red color to go with the rest of the design. I'm in no hurry to get it done other than I want to start working on other projects.

Well done you on completing it. I'll look forward to seeing it once you have the wording finished. It will look great I bet! :applesauce:

I’ve never framed anything done with beads under glass, but I have seen mirabilia projects framed under glass and they all contain hundreds of beads, so I’m guessing it can be done OK

I've framed a small beaded project and it was fine -- just as long as you use a double mount to keep the glass away from the stitching/beads.

This is a lovely project well done on nearly finishing, did you go with the beads or knots in the end??

I'm still undecided on the beads/knot things. I figure I'll make my decision after all the stitching is done. I also have to stitch a heart over the middle chimney. I'm going to do it in the same color red as the family name so it all blends together.

I finished it on Sunday but haven't had a chance to scan it yet (brother's birthday was yesterday). Maybe I'll scan it tonight. I tried a french knot for the bird's beaks and did a terrible job. I tried to take one out to redo it and almost made things much worse so I decided to leave things alone. And I gave up on doing knots for the door knobs. Maybe on this street they don't have door knobs. Yeah, that's it. All doors are automatic and open up for you without door knobs. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I spent what little free time I had yesterday prepping my next 2 projects (my 5 year old niece and 3 year old nephew helped--if you can call it that). I'll have to double check to make sure they pulled the correct colors for one of the projects. I know they rearranged a few of my floss in my cases so that will need to be sorted out. Oh well.

Well done on finishing it and cant wait to see it, i bet u didnt do a terrible job of the french not and thats right not all doors have door knobs on, so ur street u have stitch can be one of them.  I will stand by u on ur story to.

Bless, what they like. But now u have a reason to play with all ur threads and get them all sorted out. Best to double check to hehe. What are ur next 2 project???

The next projects (I'm doing 2 so if I get tired of one I will always have something else to do) is a Cherished Teddie Baseball player and the Twilight Balloon Flight that I had to draw a grid on the fabric because I'm not starting in the middle. I'll post SALs for those tonight too.

Well done you for finishing your House project. It's such a lovely feeling to complete something. I'm looking forward to seeing a photo.

And I know the Twilight Balloon Flight, it's gorgeous - definitely on my list of things to stitch! Good luck.
