Dear Lexi, so helpful keeping the 2 trees in place. An ear rub for doing such a good job too.

Love the latest version of the trees especially the 2nd one, its gorgeous.

The next leaf is interesting. Perhaps you could use a water soluable pen. I always use one put out by Clover and easily found on most stitching sites. :)

That's an idea, Sally - not sure what the effect of the water would be on crewel wool though :thinks: :thinks: I don't want to end up with a felted leaf

What about marking just outside the leave design, top and bottom, with a water-erasable pen? You then have a kind of imaginary line you can work to without actually drawing it inside the shape? (Does that make sense?) Then a little dab of water would take care of the guide mark. Or use a Frixion pen or similar -- no water involved at all?

It didn't at first  but then I got my head round it and yes, that is an option. The only slight hitch with that is that the two lines I drew are curved, so that the part where the stitches "interlock" is very narrow at the top and bottom, and wider in the middle of the leaf.
On theother hand, it's meant to be a fairly rustic-looking design, so perhaps eye-balling it will be the wayto go :-)

Still catching up after being away!

I love those trees...especially as so well demonstrated by Lexi.

The leaf is yet another triumph! :applesauce: :applesauce:

Since the part that is showing looks very pretty and interesting, I'm guessing that the rest meet the Mabel Figworthy standard of extreme excellence and is beautiful.

And here is the whole thing. This is very much a "first draft" (well, "first stitch"), I may change some things in the positioning of petals, and the materials. I intend to teach 2 or 3 workshops on this probably in May/June/July as usual, for our church's building fund (extra necessary now that we have planning permission!)

Thank you :-).

Now I've been thinking about what to charge for this workshop and I feel it'll have to be a bit more than the usual ones, what with the materials being rather more costly. I donate my time and the materials anyway, so all the money goes to the cause, but even so - would it be extravagant to charge £15? it's two hours' tuition, all the materials, and tea/coffee.
