kimkat_tkl's 2015 SAL

Post by kimkat_tkl »

I'm starting this thread to keep track of the progress of my work this year. This year's goal was to work off the two lists I came up with - A Potential New Starts List and a Started Projects List and not buy new stash. Everything that I put on the new starts list I had been wanting to do for a while and already kitted up (Well I thought was already kitted up - I didn't have the beads that I intended to replace the french knots on Soffia with). Over the year I intend to come back and update my progress on the lists.

Current WIPs:
Blackwork Journey - Save The Stitches Colour Version & White Version
Seba Designs - Freedom 2014 SAL - Finished 1st Feb

Red Brolly - It's Time For Christmas (embroidery and quilt)
2015 Christmas ornaments - yet to be decided on

So the first finish of 2015 was the Seba Designs - 2014 Freedom SAL. The premise for the design was you were given the outside frame and the blocks to fill it but you positioned the blocks where you wanted them, as well as choosing colours, fabric etc. Stitched on a Colour Cascades Fabric studio session piece of 32ct Jobelan using DMC 208, 602, 909, 973 & 995 and Presencia Black Perle #12 and a few motifs from the Save The Stitches SAL by Blackwork Journey to replace blocks that didn't take my fancy.

Am happy that it is finished as I chose the wrong type of fabric for the piece. The jobelan was too stretchy and too small a count to show the detailed stitching of the piece and all the borders turned out wavy.

Quite a list of potential starts there Tracy but I am sure you will whittle it down eventually.

Congratulations on a lovely finish and such a pretty coloured fabric too. :applesauce: :applesauce:

That's quite a list! Beautiful finish. :applesauce:

I'm sorry you don't like the fabric. I love jobelan - just goes to show we all have different preferences.

Wow! 2 finishes already in 2015! My second finish is Alessandra Adelaide Needleworks - Soffia. As soon as I saw this design, I pictured it in green and white on a blue background so I'm very happy that my finish has captured just that. I'm also very pleased that I decided to go with beads instead of french knots, as I'd probably still not have it finished by July with the sheer quantity of them!

Details:
Fabric: 32ct Colour Cascades Devil In A Blue Dress Jobelan
Threads: DMC B5200, 414, 471, 913 & 3345
Beads: Miyuki Size 11 Pearl White Ceylon and Grey Ceylon
