From memory I think I used 16ct Aida (so that the dimensions roughly match the 16ct David Tennant that I did, and the 16ct John Barrowman that I'm planning)...

The design is 53 wide by 74 high, which works out approx 4x5 inches?

Try setting the colour balance for your camera to Tungsten and use a high ISO like 800 If using a flash cover it with either tracing or grease proof paper to soften the flash. if anyone wants anymore advice on photographing your work please let me know. I will post a thread on photography soon. I am going to start on Hepburn next weekend.

Colin.

Colin, I have several pieces of 16ct Aida that are not being used. If you're interested in them, (or anyone else, for that matter) just pm me and I'll give the specs on what I have (color, size, etc.). You're welcome to them.

Ha ha!

I'm game for that - will have to watch Beauty and the Beast to make up for it now. See we can definitely say that Belle sung her own songs! :D

Hope this makes you feel better: Audrey Hepburn could sing quite well, even if her voice wasn't very powerful (just listen to Moon River from Breakfast at Tiffany's), and there are in fact one or two recordings of her doing somgs from My Fair Lady -- I saw the "wouldn't It Be Luvverly" number with her own voice in a documentary some time ago, and though it wasn't Julie Andrews (who played the role on stage, I think), I would have let her use her own voice any time! So when you next watch the film, just remember "she wuz robbed" -- you may not hear her singing voice but not because it was a bad voice!

OK, I just scanned the finished project so that I can show off at least one decent pic.
Image

Many thanks to Colin for the photography advice, but I'm using a 2MP camera phone at the moment, so scanned images are probably about the best quality that I have available to me....

and @ sammy_v, my next sepia project will be John Barrowman (Torchwood) which I plan to frame side by side with David Tennant in a twin aperture picture frame

Amazing project. I can never get over the detail that can be put into cross stitch projects.
