This is a very lovely project with I am sure a lot of challenges mainly I would say the light colours on white back ground . I think you are doing amazingly well and should be proud of yourself. I only work on 18 ctor 20 ct Don,t fancy going any smaller than that as it has its own challenges well done you.

Thank you all for your comments. I will keep going, but there are times when it feels a slog.

:applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce: Great update, more colours starting to appear but can understand how tedious it must feel sometimes to stitch the similar background colours. Keep going though, this is a wonderful piece. :whoop:

I re-started this on 14 Oct, and finished page 12 on Sunday (22 Oct 2017). The chart page cross reference is:
Image

The progress photo is:
Image
So, completing the 6174 stitches on page 12 means that I have completed 35264 stitches of the 110730 stitches in the project, or 31.8%. I am at least 5 months behind my original schedule, but the next page is page 15, Luz's blanket covered thigh, so at least it won't be as tedious as the background. Page 12 only had about 15 stitches of the sword hilt to relieve the tedium. Ah well, it's done & I can start motoring now. I'll continue for a month on Luz before returning to Gryff.

Regards,

Richard

Superb Work Richard,

I do love Luis Royo art work, i look forward to seeing this project develop and the final product. I am very impressed by the attention to the details you have. :applesauce:

I myself would love to do some cross stitches based on luis Royo's dead moon characters.

Best Regards

I love the soft colours of this that make the detail so striking. Curious how many stitches across is each page?......it look like 200, but that could be the TINY count

Ajay wrote:... Curious how many stitches across is each page?...
The pages are 77 wide & 98 high, except the pages in the right hand column which are 63 stitches wide.
The count is 28 count, and I'm doing 2 over 1 tent stitch. The stitch length is 1.28mm, with a 0.9mm horizontal & 0.9mm vertical component. So, yes, they are tiny.

Regards,

Richard.

Been working on Luz for the last month, and have reached the point where I'm rotating over to Gryff, and thought I'd show the progress. I have been working steadily on page 15 of the chart:

And the progress:
Image
I do apologize for the quality of the photo, it was taken with my tablet's camera which usually lives under a layer of Blu-tac. (One never knows who's hacked into an android tablet. Google claim Android is safe, many others have evidence to the contrary, and I don't want the camera to be broadcasting to the world without my knowledge.) I have been feeling somewhat under the weather after a colleague kindly shared his stinking cold with me, and as a result have had a lot of time to stitch that I didn't expect.
Doing something other than background has been nice. The top 26 rows of sheet 15 are complete, and I have probably done just over half the stitches on this page since the last update on 24th of October. The outline of the rune books by Luz's feet are beginning to show too.

Regards,

Richard

Such a lot of detail in this bit! Do you find there is more "chopping and changing" in a page like this, or is the background equally confetti-ish?

There are more colours in the blanket (around 40), but strangely enough there are more contiguous stitches of the same colour. The rucks & folds in the blanket have distinct areas of similar colours, thereby allowing lines of the same colour to be up to 4 stitches long. In the background every stitch was isolated, with many areas being repetitions of a 9 colour 3x3 block - not always the same 9 colours, but the dithering seems to generate patterns like that.

Richard.

:applesauce: :applesauce: What a beautiful update!! I've also found that what I think should be large blocks of a single color in a background, often has more confetti than what seems to be the more detailed parts of design. I think that is what you were saying? Regardless, the background is so lovely and the blanket is looking perfect. Hope you are feeling better. Colds are never fun, even if you get a little more time to cross stitch.

Wow, Richard that is looking amazing, I love the attention to detail and how well blended those colours and threads are.

Looking forward to seeing more as you stitch more. :)
