Joanna's current works - Update 21 march 18

Post by JoannaG »

Hi all,

I finally figured out how to upload my images straight from my phone. Thought I would take advantage and create a thread for my current WIPs.

Ballerina Dream Dimensions Gold kit on 18 count Aida. I call them my dancers.

Started in April, I took a break of a few months while I moved. Restarted in the 2nd week of Nov.

Image

This was at the beginning of this weekend

And this was in the early hours of monday morning.

Almost finished! Just got to finish the confetti in the bushes, a few ninja stitches here and there and the white (which I will probably start today). Oh and the backstitching!

I might just get my christmas finish!

That is so gorgeous and beautifully stitched. Good luck with getting it finished in time. You still have a few days. :D

This is really beautiful. Have looked at this design many times & wondered how it would look when actually stitched. IT really is a most beautiful picture. Hope you finish it in time. :whoop: :applesauce: :applesauce:

Thanks guys.

If I get it done in time I can probably get some free postage to South Africa.

My sister is visiting until just after New Year and hopefully would have enough space in her luggage for a piece of material. She could then forward it on to my cousin. It would mean finding a framer in SA.

Haven't ever framed any projects myself. Would any framing shop be able to do the lacing and framing or would I have to find a speciality store?

It's a superb design! I hope you can get it finished in time. :D

Any Good framer should be able to mount this well for you, but I'm not sire if they would do the lacing.
I've had pieces mounted and framed and they've been stretched and stuck down with tape on the back of the mount board.
Perhaps you could mount and lace onto suitable board, then get it framed afterwards. If it went out to SA unframed in a suitcase it would be lighter then it could be framed there.

If you can find a framer who has experience of framing embroidery they will probably lace as well - I know at least one of the framers in our village do; however, it can add quite a bit to the final cost as it is fairly labour-intensive.

Had the last few days off work amd managed to get all the confetti done. Just got the last cross stitch stitched an hour ago.

Now, just have to bring the image into focus with the back stitching! Technically have until New Year to finish it.

Don't have much more alone time left. Hopefully I don't get shy finishing it in front of family.

If I don't post again before the big day, Merry Christmas everyone! Happy stitching!
