Thanks Mabel.
Looking at the diagram, I realise I already do that sometimes. Either for individual stitches or the end of the line.
Good to know I have already figured out a recognised method

Great diagram MAbel and I know it will be of help. I have never had a problem with any evenweave and vanishing stitching thankfully.

I couldn't help myself!!
I've put the frogs aside for a bit and spent the weekend starting my SSMC Treasure Hunt Bookshelf!!
It's a bit of a dark photo but here is my black progress after a day and half.
Started in the bottom right corner. Am trying ECC (without moving the frame). This is 6 pages wide. I'll be able to work on 3-4 page rows at once.
28 count 2x1 tent (so I can loop start
)
Oh, I also got some new GoT needleminders to keep me company

Great start!! This is going to be a lot of fun as the different objects take shape. I love the "Bookshelf" designs and am looking forward to your updates!

I've been working steadily away at my bookshelf for the last 6 weeks. As I can start identifying features I thought it was time for an update.
This is 36 colours complete in this bottom right corner. Working Area is 3 pages up (2 and a partial) by 6ish pages across. I have stitched into the next page column and row when I want to finish off the thread colour, which is why I say 6ish.
Think I have enough for a page finish?
I had 310 and 939 to start with and then my first batch of colours arrived. As I only had the first lot of colours, I ended up just working in dmc colour order rather than by number of stitches. I have all the colours now but have stuck with the dmc order for now.
I also ended up buying a large poster of the design for the wall. I can see it, as well as my frogs, from my stitchy spot. Hopefully the poster is only a placeholder for the next couple of years. Eventually it will be replaced with the finished piece.

You can definitely see books emerging! And what a brilliant idea to get the poster as a place-holder - I'm sure it encourages you too
