Bothy Threads 'Pumpkin, Spice And All Things Mice'

Post by Nicola Main »

Hello I'm back! And STILL stitching Wrendales! I started this one a week ago and it's so cute! It's one of the new releases which came out at the end of August. I've done one mouse so far and rather pleased with the French knots which I can just never get the hang of! Off to have a browse and a catch up and hope you're all well in the midst of this awful pandemic and getting plenty of crafty work done!

Good to see you, Nicola! And what a cute design, too. There is a farm not far from us that specialises in pumpkins (usually), and has open days towards Halloween. Families come and harvest their pumpkins, but there are lots of low-key things to do, too. It's a really old-fashioned day out. This year? Not sure. :? Hope you've been well, too!

All that Orange! but what a fun design. :applesauce:
Good to see you Nicola!

In France pumpkins are sold for food not Halloween 🎃
D/H always dreaded them because I love pumpkin soup....he doesn't!

Ukrainians seem to be growing pumpkins for the sake of beauty, because they are nearly "a must" in village back gardens, but neither pumpkin soup nor other dishes are popular here. Even in the capital city, on my way to my Daughter's I can see a pumpkin climbing a fence. It looked great with its huge yellow flowers, and later- with small (must be a decorative kind) fruits. I like Luca's Pumpkins. But these with cute mice have stolen my heart. Happy stitching, Nicola. And yes, you were missed here and I am happy you are back.

Awww how nice  I certainly missed being here! To my shame I've been glued to Facebook and Twitter over the last few months but need to remember and come on here more often. I had another forum I was a member of (wildlife and nature related) too. Everything is so fast and easy on social media but it's nice to slow down and browse, chat and share on forums :D

 Welcome back! You have been missed! Love your newest project! Have you done any others we have missed seeing?

We also have a farm that has open fields with tons of pumpkins that you can go out to and pick your pumpkin from for Halloween. Have no clue what kind of Halloween we will be having or not having this year. Pumpkin soup is increasing in popularity I think, but pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving is almost a requirement here. I don't know if I have ever had a Thanksgiving dinner when it has not been part of the dessert. ( Also popular down here (as in the Southern US) is sweet potato pie at Thanksgiving)

I was off today so I managed to get quite a bit done on this (not the fastest stitcher but hey it's not about the speed is it?). Really loving this one! :)

:applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce: It is not about the speed, it's about loving what you are stitching and I know this has to be a lot of fun to do!

This design is so cute...but what else would I expect from a Wrendale, right? Nice start on it (and love your needleminder). Are you not stitching it on the speckled side?

(It’s fun to see your stuff here and in the Bothy fb group. :-) )

Thanks everyone! And no I'm not using the speckled aida this time Debby but my 14 count white Charles Craft from my stash. It is a much more stiff and 33% heavier than Zweigart fabric. You could stitch it without a hoop if preferred but I love my Luca-S wooden clip frames.
