2020 Stashmas has arrived!

Post by Serinde »

Finally! It is that time of year again. Stashmas 2020 has arrived! :horn: :horn:

Unsurprisingly, this year, Stashmas is a bit different. Your Mods and the Stashmas Elves discussed this at some length in September, and decided that sending parcels wasn’t possible. There are lots of reasons why – Covid has changed the landscape so much for so many, we felt it unfair to unintentionally put pressure on members. We'd already missed the shipping date in Australia! Not to mention that international postal services weren’t operating normally anyway, coupled with a US election which has proved to be very “mail intensive”. We could all too easily imagine Stashmas stuck in the post or lost in Customs! :anotherfrog: :ribbit: :anotherfrog:

But we were determined to have Stashmas! After the aforementioned long discussions, and having asked you guys, too, we believe we found a solution.

O, Stashmas Tree!
:stars:

This is a Stashmas gift to forum members from our own Mabel, hereafter to be known as Chief Elf. The design uses a patterned fabric of your choice (like quilting cotton, but actually a piece of old duvet cover would work just as well!), beads, sequins and any other embellishments you happen to have in your stash, some sewing thread (or stranded cotton) to attach the applique bits, and embroidery thread. The design uses perle cotton but it would also work with a full thread (all 6 strands) of DMC or Anchor stranded cotton, or any speciality thread you happen to have that's fairly chunky.

Don’t worry if there’s too much to remember here -- all the instructions and templates are included in the download, as well as ideas for finishing your Stashmas Trees.

Your Mods and Mabel are on hand to answer questions, and – of course – there will be a special thread to show off all your lovely finishes. :mexicanwave:

Sign up as usual by replying below in this thread, and I’ll send you the link. :airplane:

Happy Stashmas! :snowman:

Got mine! Easy peasy to download. Probably not easy peasy to stitch, but looks like fun.

Oh I love this idea. Can I please participate. Thank you those arranging this and Mabel for providing the pattern.

I haven't participated in the latter Stashmases - the worry about what to buy and would they like it. :thinks:

Oooohhh, this looks very interesting.

Although I have not tried Applique before, I would really like to have a go at this.

I have a question though, does it have to be stitched before 1st December? I'm not certain I could do what I have in mind before 1st December with the stitching I have to do before Christmas.

A big Thank You to our Chief Elf, Mabel, for sharing this lovely design with us.

There is no date by which your trees need to be completed -- it's a completely open-ended Stashmas this year.

Also, the download will be available until 24th December.

Shall I send you the download?

I've looked, not able to find it, could be it was inadvertently binned, if it was in one of the earlier pms that were sent out. I don't remember seeing that when I did a small clean out earlier (due to my inbox being a bit full.) If that is the case, so sorry to have binned it
