Re: Elegance of the Orient Dimensions: 1st few stitches

Post by richardandtracy »

Interesting to see the way you grid. I just do the grids horizontally, but count the length of the stitches, so they are 5 holes long above & below the fabric. Then I space the lines 10 apart. That way the grids match up with stitches 1-5 on every group of 10 stitches.

I wonder if it's quicker to do the way you do. Will have to look into it.

I do use red fishing line so that I don't have to remove the gridding as I get to it. The fishing line pulls out easily even when buried in lots of stitches.

Regards,

Richard.

I never thought of red fishing line Richard. I sometimes count the holes above & below fabric when gridding but most times it is haphazard. When I see some people have done very neat gridding I feel I ought to be like that but it never lasts long before I revert back to not counting length of gridding stitches. I do lines 10 spaces apart as you do. Never having done a project this large before I have done all horizontal lines but still have a few vertical lines to add on. As mentioned before I may put a few in each time I go from one project to the other but may leave it until I get nearer each edge as there aren't many more to do.
