Made my cross stitch into a bag! -Again! March 13

Post by mechie »

A couple of months ago I posted a pic of a ballerina I had stitched for my daughter with the intention of making it into a ballet bag for her. Well, last weekend I finally got around to doing the sewing work.

Now, I am a much better stitcher than I am a sewer. I didn't have a pattern or instructions to work from, which is very intimidating for me. My engineering brain just isn't comfortable without detailed plans and instructions. So, I read up on instructions on how to make all sorts of things and then compiled the bits and pieces I needed and came up with my own plan.

I'm very pleased with the end results. And, more importantly, my daughter absolutely loves it! She can't wait to show it off at dance class this afternoon.

So, here it is:

Thanks for looking!

Just Lovely!

The fabric really enhances the design and brings the Tutu colour out.

Well done!! :applesauce: :applesauce:

:applesauce: :applesauce: That is wonderful! I am not surprised at all that your daughter just loves it and can't wait to show it off. It is so special. Don't be surprised if you get requests from other mothers as to how to make one? or could you do that for them? I would.

Absolutely gorgeous and I agree with Carole. All the girls will be begging their Moms for one. Guess you will have to start a stitching class while you are watching ballet.

I wouldn't mind doing one for someone else, as long as they don't mind waiting about 6 months to get it. I'm not exactly a speedy stitcher. Besides, I think I'm already committed to at least one more. As I was sewing this together yesterday Little One came over to me and said, "Mommy, I want mine to be pink" and then she walked away. I guess it's a good thing there was a pink ballerina design in the same mag as the purple one. :D

Just want to clarify. I didn't mean that I would stitch one for others. I meant that you did such a lovely job that I would ask you to stitch one for me!

Not surprised that Little One wants one too. I just love how she informed you that hers would be pink.

I hadn't thought of teaching them to do the stitching. Excellent idea!

I figured that's what you meant! :D I still wouldn't mind doing it for this because the ballerina was a fairly easy stitch. Anything more complicated and I'd have to pass.

Oh, yes, Little One is the type to tell you exactly how things should be and she's not even 3 yet!
