Reading AND Stitching at the same time!

Post by Violet »

I just discovered how to enjoy me favourite book and stitch at the same time!!!
AUDIO BOOKS!
Today I stitched for 3 hours whilst listening to a book by one of my favourite authors
Sue Grafton... How good is that? Why didn't I think of this sooner?
Very happy :D

This is indeed a brilliant idea! I have some drama's that I listen to while doing housework, so I could listen to them while stitching!

I tend to stitch in the evenings when DH and/or youngest usually have the telly on (and if it's things like Victorian Farm I'll watch too!) so it wouldn't work, but I do have a few audiobooks I borrowed from my MIL to play while I'm doing the accounts or working on the website -- Dorothy Sayers, nothing like a good murder when you're digging through VAT receipts -- and I'd love to be able to play them while stitching too!

I am doing just that at the moment - listening to HP. I got the idea from Rose, actually - thank you, Rose! :D

fab idea! :D i have bought a couple of audiobooks in the past to listen to while working around the house etc, but tbh, i found it was a bit expensive -the audio's are so much more £ than a paperback :(

i've been stitching in front of the telly recently and find i either get really into the stitching then annoy hubby constantly asking what's happened or i end up with a little visitor : :ribbit: (oops!!!)

You are very Welcome. I really enjoyed them and my stitching seemed to go so much faster while listening to them. I love the readers voice too. It is just perfect for these books.

They do have free audiobooks, actually a lot of them. Mostly old books though, those whose copyright has expired, but still. Take a look at these sites:

Hi Grub,
I get them from my local library.... free. I also have a good set of headphones so I don't annoy the family! Bliss! :D
