Greetings from Florida

Post by karen4bells »

:) Hello everyone! I joined this forum a couple of days ago and have enjoyed reading thru so many fabulous topics. I live in Florida and am the mom to two adult sons. I have been stitching for over 20 years and to say it is a hobby is putting it mildly---it's an obsession and one I love! I look forward to enjoying this site and hopefully will be posting a few pictures of some of my recent finished projects :ratherbe:

Thanks for the wonderful welcomes. As to what I like to stitch, that's a great question, varies at any given time, angels, teddy bears, santa, eeyore, wildlife--and so on

Here is one that I finished up a couple of weeks ago called Santa's Secret--worked up on 18 ct white aida and used some couching, metallic thread, and some half stitches, some of which used 3 and 4 strands, so gave it some nice dimension

Image

Here is one I finished up in 2008 a marbek angel--stitched up on 32 count pale blue linen and using kreinik blending filament and metallic threads

Image

and here is a vest that I added several butterflies on using waste canvas

Image

That's just a sampling of some of my past projects. I'm currently working on a Lickle Ted design from a recent Cross Stitcher magazine

LOL then I best not post a picture of the giant Luna Moth that is on the back of that vest---I really do love wearing it, but try to save it for only occasional use so as to make it last longer.
Again, thanks everyone for your very lovely welcomes :D

A belated welcome from me too - been rather busy with eldest DS 50th birthday at the end of the week

Your work is so lovely and I jsut love the vest, it is so colourful and different.

Your other finished pieces are great too and I do like the fairy one especially - great for a little girls room.

I look forward to seeing more of your work - what are you working on at present?

Hi Squirrel
Thanks for the welcome and the lovely compliments too. I'm currently working on a small project, it's a lickle ted, called dear santa---from a recent Cross Stitcher magazine. Will try and post a picture of my progress as soon as I locate the proper section for small projects. I'm still sorting out what to do next for a large project. I do have a couple of Lavender and Lace charts but have been thinking about taking the plunge and get my first haed, really like one called Angel and the Lamb :)
