Well, as I said at the beginning of this thread, I was nervous about getting this finished in time. The big day is this coming Saturday and...I finished it yesterday! Finished it, framed it, even laced the back which I've never done before (but I have got one piece of embroidery which my mother did and laced herself so I had a good basis to go from).

Sorry about the flash reflection but if I take pictures without the flash on they come out really blurry. You can still see all the detail.

And the back...

It's not completely straight in the frame, I think my tension wasn't completely even when I was lacing it, but people will only notice that if they're looking far closer than is really polite so I'm not worried.

Next project: something just for me!

What a super job you have made of this! :applesauce: The good thing about this sort of frame is, in the future, if you are really worried about the lacing tension, you can take it out and re-do it.

Looks just "the picture"! I'm sure they will be so pleased. :toast:

Thank you Mabel for the compliment on the frame :) it's one I've had for a while and I thought it might be too light for this sampler so was prepared to get some woodstain to darken it but figured I'd give it a try without first - I'm really pleased with how it looks, on reflection I think staining it would have made it too dark.

Nettie, lacing it was much easier than I expected it to be - I might have preferred to try it for the first time on something smaller though, easier to control (this one got pretty heavy!) so I'd say - give it a go! I just used regular sewing machine cotton to do it, because all the instructions I've read online and in books and magazines say to use "strong cotton" and that worked just fine.

Mabel, I've not only chosen my next project, I've started it...and finished it. It was really quite small! I'll post pics in my "kitty's pretties" thread :)

Beautiful finish!! :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce: I really do love that sampler!! I wish I was just getting married so I'd have reason to do it - I feel twenty years after the event would be a bit late!!

That looks lovely!! I may have to have a go at lacing mine up to frame it when I have finished it, having seen yours laced it spurs me to try it myself! Well done!!
