I make them myself with the same floss I'm stitching the bookmark so it will tone in. They're dead easy to make - I wrap thread round the end of a ruler, then thread another piece through the top of it before cutting the bottom. Then I wrap more thread round the outside and then push it down through the top and into the body of the tassel. then I just have to trim it so it's neat.

You can find a simple tassel tutorial HERE.
Ahhhh….… I never thought of that, thanks for the instructions and link

I love making bookmarks as they are great gifts. They really add a personal touch.

The top one I made for myself and the bottom one I made for my mum. I've also designed a few for friends as well. The tassels get easier as well!

Haven't really done many bookmarks. Changed the word Thistle on this to read Alba instead. (Gaelic for the word Scotland)

Lots of lovely bookmarks. :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

You can find some in my galery, too. I also made a few simple free designs, you can see them on my blog.

I've never made a bookmark either. I never could figure out what to do with the back! I recently made a small piece and backed it with Aida of the same size and sewed them together with a running stitch of the design color. I got that idea from my sis.

There are so many good ideas here that I'm sure I will do some bookmarks now!

I've just made one of Kell's floral bookmarks using Aida band. I can't post a photo of it yet as it's a gift for a friend and if I put a photo on my blog, which is where I grab the photos for here from, she'll see it.
I wanted to mention though that I used self-adhesive felt to back it, just hemming the top and bottom for neatness, and it was so very quick and easy to do. I'll be trying some of the other methods mentioned here for future ones, just to compare but I did like the felt if only for the speed of finishing.

I'll have to keep an eye out for that. Is it thinner than the usual felt you find in craft stores?

What a great idea -- and I have several pairs of craft scissors with different edges. Thanks for the tip!

It's about the same. I got it in Hobbycraft, a large craft chain store, as they sell it in small pieces, but limited colours. I've seen it online but larger sheets.
