I'm stitching this because watching birds out our window makes my husband happy. I thought I'd get a start on it while I'm waiting for my Chatelaine things to be delivered.

Image

It's a kit by Bucilla. I'm using my own DMC but this time I am using the fabric, which is a 28 ct even weave, because it's an exceptionally pretty shade of blue. I don't think I'll be able to capture it with my camera. It calls for french knots in the flowers but I think I may try beads instead because I had such a good experience with them. Other than that, I don't think I'll be making too many changes. There are lots of half stitches and fractionals but it's a breeze to be working on this size even weave. I think I'd like to frame it in a white, shabby chic style, if I can find something the right size.

   Lovely design! One of my all time favorite birds--we are fortunate to have several pairs of them frequent our backyard and feeders and have had countless babies visit over the year too. Looking forward to your next update and I think a white shabby chic frame would look great with it!! :)

ditto. It's so much fun to watch them feed the babies. One year they made their nest in the arbor right outside our front door. We really got to watch them, but had to use the garage to go in and out until the babies fledged.

LOL I can relate to that, when we lived in Illinois, about 20 yrs ago, we had them build a nest in bushes right next to our front door and we ended up having to use the garage door for a while. Well worth it though. :D

What a beautiful project and I agree that the fabric is a gorgeous blue. You have made a good start too.

I too love the Cardinals having seen them once on a snowy morning in Dallas about 30 years ago and never forgotten the wondrous sight. I do envy those of you who have them visiting your yards.

What a beautiful design, and I think the shabby frame will be perfect and unexpected (that's a good thing!). I love the sentiment too and think your hubby will love it.
