Kerry, I got Mill Hill seed beads there for $1.03 (about 70p?) and at S&S they are £1.16 to £1.27. Do look out for SB&B's sales, though, that's the prices I gave but they have them often :-)

Hi everyone I've not been posting much but have done a little stitching, not as much as normal because of work!

So finally the first quarter all done but the beads which I will do at the end.

I'm not too happy with the face it is stitched in 1 ply but still looks too bold I will have to do it again but did it 3 times and decided to have a break. Any suggestions would be gratefully received :D

Beautiful update! :applesauce: :applesauce:

On the face you mean the backstitch? I personally think it looks fine the way it is, but only solution to make it finer that I can think of is using sewing thread as that's very very fine?

What beautiful work!! I think the backstitch looks fine as well. Do you mind me asking if you bought the kit from ECC in the end? I'll be starting my first Chatelaine probably in January ish and am still wondering whether to buy supplies bit by bit over a few months or just splurge all at once at ECC - or just buy the bead pack from them?!

Thanks guys!

Yes I did buy the kit , I was not going too but then I priced it up and found it would be much more to do it myself particularly as I am in the UK. In the end I just went for it !!

Thanks for that Kerry - did the kit get held up in customs or did it make its way straight to you? I'm just a born worrier and think that the kit will get lost in the ocean on its way over to me! I'm not superstitious but I had 13 letters in my maiden name....... @rotfl: Sorry to ask questions - but a lot of the Chatelaine stitchers on other forums are US based so don't have to deal with our thread and bead worries!

I am so not into fairies, but I love the colours on this - it is beautiful! Regarding the face - have you tried using a slightly paler colour for the back stitching of the eyes? All of the eyes seem rather bold on the design pic you posted, so personally I would lighten 'em up a bit. :)

I am not a huge fan of the Chatelaine patterns but this is looking beautiful. :applesauce:

I also think that maybe a lighter color on the face would work well.

You've made a wonderful start on this and quickly too. The only suggestion I have is perhaps tone down the dark colour around her ?eyes. It seems to stand out to me.

Well done getting the first quarter done.

I am so glad you bought this - it is stunning and your stitching is beautiful!! :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

I understand how you feel about the eyes - they are a little too bold. A grey or mid brown may get the look you're after.

If really is so beautiful!! :D

It is beautiful. I agree, tone down the colour for the backstitch and it will be perfect.

:thinks: I dunno by the pic it looks fine to me... It compliments the stark colors and boldness of the rest of the design..

Looking gorgeous! If you're not happy with the boldness of the backstitch I would suggest a softer, lighter colour; a grey would work for the eyes though you may need to experiment to see whether a warm grey or a cool grey would work best.
