Re: BOOKMARK BINGO - OCT 5th! With extra pick!

Post by LadyS »

Before I post today's picks, I'll leave another little topic of conversation for today!

What type of reader are you? Do you only read at night before sleep? Do you take reading breaks during the day or on the weekends like reading in your backyard? Do you always stop at the end of a chapter or on any page?

Myself it depends on the book. I mostly read at night in bed right before turning my light off, but if the book is too good, I'll ready eating breakfast, sneak little breaks throughout the day to read, read on public transportation going somewhere (I did in Brasil at least, not a lot of that going on here), etc. I usually stop at the end of a chapter but if I'm too tired I'll just reach the bottom of a random page.

And today's picks are ... #3 and #22!

#3 - Moonstones is a HAED storykeep that actually has a completed picture for us to see, to show how great they can be.

#22 - Phoenix is another HAED, with lovely fiery and lavender colors.

Yeah I got both today!! I'm now on 4

I like to read in bed at night before I go to sleep, it helps me to sleep. I stop at the end of a chapter, I dont like to stop mid page. Sometimes it's a struggle when I'm tired.

I had both today, so I'm at 5....halfway to Bingo! Moonstones is a nice design, and if you check out the HAED gallery, one of the stitchers recently finished the full size version on a hand-dyed fabric, and it's beautiful!

As for books, I now read mostly on my Kindle and listen to books on my iPod. The Kindle is small enough to fit in my purse, so I can read anytime I'm waiting (like at the doctor's office where I have to take my husband shortly), at lunch break, of if I take time just to read. The books on iPod are great because I can listen while driving to/from work and school and while stitching. I stop when I need to, but most often try to reach the end of a chapter, if I can. I have gotten into books I really like and ended up going to bed really late because I wanted to finish them.

I got them both today, so I'm up to 5!

I mainly read before I go to bed or (if I don't have the kids with me) when I'm waiting for things (like when I got the oil changed in my car). I like to stop at the end of a chapter, but it doesn't always work out that way (too tired, get interrupted, or the chapters are just too darn long :D ).

None today for me still at 3.

I'm definately a read in bed lass, I love to really get my teeth into a book once I'm reading and find that reading in small doses such as a break time at work is just not long enough to satiate my appetite for the story.

One for me today so I'm up to 4...

I read any free time I have that I'm not stitching. Now I have a Kindle, so I am reading a lot more when I'm out and have to wait for something. It's hard for me to read in bed because I usually fall asleep pretty fast once I go to bed since I only get 5-6 hours sleep per night... :)

One for me today, up to 2. I'm working on the full size Moonstones, it was neat to see it is a storykeep!

I'm an avid reader. I read a bit when I wake up before I get out of bed. I read for at least an hour in bed before I go to sleep. I never leave home without a book. As a kid, I was teased a lot and even my grandmother was concerned I read 'too much' (is there such a thing???) and tried to put a stop to it (crazy woman!). I got all sorts of awards as a kid for being a reader through the school and town library. My mom ended up being a librarian as I got older, and when I was 16 I started subbing at various small libraries in the county. So yeah, I read some. :)

I keep thinking about buying a Kindle, but part of the joy of reading is the book itself, I love books, the smell, the paper, flipping through pages, having them on the shelf and looking at them, so I always give up on the idea of having a kindle.

The few e-books I read I do on my netbook.

Oops nearly forgot, work very busy. Only 2 for me so far.

My favorite book is Lord of the Rings. Can be heavy going at times but very well written.

I also like the Earth's children series: Clan of the cave Bear, Mammoth Hunters etc. I have downloaded all of them onto my Kindle.

I felt the same way about e-readers at first too. What changed my mind is the fact that we were running out of room in the house. Especially once the kids came along. When you figure that an e-reader can hold a lot more books than I can fit on my bookcase then loosing the tactile sense of a real book became more acceptable (at least for me :D ). I have a nook instead of a Kindle, but I do like it very much. It makes carrying books around much easier.

I'm still on 2 also.. kell, did you choose the same numbers as me??? :D

I don't have a kindle or anything like it, and I'm not sure if I will get one. I'd honestly like to play with one to see what it's like, but I'm like many others in that reading a book is an experience beyond just the story. I don't necessarily keep all the books I read (if I did, I'd need a couple of storage units), in fact I trade them online using PaperbackSwap. I've also heard that in a couple of cases, books have been removed from people's kindles without their permission; for example, a publishing error caused a 'recall', and anyone who had purchased that book had it removed (but the people who'd purchased a hard copy didn't have to return theirs). NOT acceptable to me.

That's not to say I won't ever get one. I'm simply happy with my current reading habits. :)

Mechie and I are on the same track....we've both got 6.

On the topic of e-books, I love my Kindle, since I can put it in my purse and take it everywhere. It's certainly more convenient than carrying books around town or on trips.

Just a bit off topic, I'm very excited to have started my 40th Anniversary Sampler, so if you'd like to see what I'm doing, I posted an update to my blog this morning at http://octoberlace.blogspot.com" target="_blank.

I'm up to 5 now!

I don't have a kindle but a Sony Reader! I love it! My main motivation for buying it was because I travel a lot and with weight restrictions on a plane being what they are every spare pound is left for my bowling equipment! So it was only logical to spend the pennies for the reader!!

Can't live with out it! Don't get me wrong I still have hundreds of paper books though!!
