OT - Anne McCaffery has passed.

Post by Genghiscon »

For those of you who were among her legions of fans, Anne McCaffery has passed away. She built amazing worlds for us to visit and characters I would be honored to call friends. Thank you, Anne, for sharing your gift. You will be missed.

DH and I love her Pern books especially. She was a wonderful story teller and she will live on in her books.

 I have all the Pern books (either as a book/audio or both)that she wrote and some with her son. All of the Rowan series, "Ship Who ..." series, All of the first Acorna series etc etc etc.
I am so glad that I started the Dragon Riders afghan. She built wonderful worlds and characters that did become friends. I will miss her very much.

I too love the worlds she created. If I have to choose a favourite series, it would be the Crystal Singer. There is such a wonderful range of themes to choose from......., people with amazing abilities from all sorts of planets, dragons, dolphins, fire lizards (I'd still like to have one of those), and so much else that enriched my imagination.

Rest in Peace, Anne, and thank you for the many hours of pleasure you have given me.

I, too, was really sorry to learn this. I was privileged to have met Anne about 6 years ago. She was a great gal, always game, and sharp as anything. I loved her writing, too -- who wouldn't want to be a dragonrider? Her worlds had substance, and she understood her readership. Lovely lady who'll be missed.

So sorry about this as well, like all of you her books have given me so many hours of great pleasure. I have every one she every wrote, including some rare ones. I even have them all on audio as well.

She made worlds I'd have loved to have lived in for longer than I did.

I hope she finds her dragons. Fly free Anne.

So sorry to hear about this. I'm another huge fan of her books. The Talent series is probably my favourite, though it's a close run thing with the dragon riders. All depends on whether I feel like being partnered with a dragon or having mental talents each day...
