My daughter has put bread up her nose! I don't know how, but she did!

She's 21 months old and, while I was helping my older daughter read the Valentine's she got a school, little one very calmly told me that she had bread in her nose and asked me to get it out. I tried, but of course, since it's bread it just tore apart. In about an hour we'll be off to the doctor's office to have the bread removed from her nose.

Sorry, just had to vent a little. My oldest never did anything like this before and I wasn't really sure how to react.

Lol - I can relate... When my son was about two, he had what appeared to be some sort of mass in his ear, it was a grayish white and we couldn't get it out. So off to the doctor we went, scared to death thinking he had a tumor or something. She took a look and very calmly extracted a wad of tissue that he had stuck in there. Quite a relief I have to say... :)

Here's hoping she doesn't put anything else where it doesn't belong!

@rotfl: I'm sorry but I have heard of peas and beans and marbles and I think one of my grandson's had a pencil eraser one time, but bread is a new one on me. Laverne and Shirley just looked at me so weird because I burst out laughing. @rotfl:

  oh my!! Thanks for the laugh--and I do hope that your doctor doesn't have too much trouble extracting the wad of bread from your little one's nose. Kids do manage to get into troubles, don't they?? :P

The offending bread is now gone! Actually, right as we were going out the door to leave the house she let out a big sneeze and said "bread come out my nose!". Since we were leaving anyways, I still took her in (it's only 5 min. up the road) and the doctor verified that the bread was indeed all gone (and didn't even charge us for the visit).

Now I'm going to have to watch her that much closer to make sure she doesn't try and stick anything else up her nose. She seems to think that this whole ordeal is some sort of grand game.

Yeah, before I had kids I would have totally agreed with you! Now, after 4+ years, I don't think much about it. You get used to it after a while.

I actually didn't try sucking her nose this time because I knew from past experience that it's a 2 man job with this child. Since hubby was at work and the doctor's office didn't suggest trying it, I figured I'd let them deal with it.

Thanks for the laugh @rotfl: Just keep lots and lots of pepper on hands or go get some smelling salts.

ooo sympathies from a fellow push stuff up her noser, me about 43 years ago and apparently my mom says she never knew for ages but i started to have a funny smell when she got near my face and eventually took me to the doctors (i was approx 12 months old and had not said anything was up there) anyway the doc follwed the smell and i had apparently shoved foam up my nose that mom later realised was from the pad in the bottom of my playpen!
Glad your little one is ok though :)

glad its out and no harm done. Now the task is trying to convince her that it isn't a game and she shouldn't try anything else. They are so cute at this age and so difficult to keep an eye on. But ya'll did provide for those of us far away a smile and a laugh remembering. Usually seems to me it was the things they put in their mouths that grossed me out. I never could get really used to that.

As a Grandma I can laugh at your little girls antics. (I know also how concerned you would be.) I'm glad she's OK now!

My granddaughter was always getting into mischief at that age. Still does in fact!!  she's now 7.

Luckily thay do grow out of that phase.....
Then they become

TEENAGERS!!!!

Apparently, she hasn't learned her lesson yet. At dinner last night she tried to stick rice up her nose! Luckily, I caught her before she succeeded. I guess it was appropriate that hubby dressed her in a shirt that said "Big Trouble" yesterday.

Long time ago I had to take one of my sons to A&E (ER for those of you in the States) as he managed somehow to stick either a chip or a bit of chicken nugget up his nose :? I am glad to say there was no suggestion of me sucking it out :gurn: :gurn: - a little vacuum device was used and the doctor then pronounced to all the nearby staff that it was a chip! Jack had the cheek to look proud and it didn't help that the nurses clapped at this news

We won't ever let him forget it - it now ranks alongside the 'burning his thumb with the cigarette lighter in the car' incident ... but that's another story

Glad your daughter is alright.
But oh my   I am reminded of when I was about your daughter's age I put a daisy up my nose  fortunately our neighbour who was a nurse managed to retrieve the unfortunate flower with tweezers before I sniffed it further up my nostril!
I also swallowed a three penny bit (shows my age) when I was about three. Nature ,fortunately, ran its course. I remember swallowing it and having stomach ache. By all accounts I was a bit of a handful!!! but I did improve ,honestly. :D
