Teddy and Balloons

Post by LastingAllure »

Well I just found out one of my friends back home is pregnant so I decided while I have time I should stitch up a little something for her. I decided to go with this pattern:

Image

Its Up, Up & Away by Lori Gardner

I think it is pretty gender neutral...Thinking of changing the pink patch on its elbow to a green but other than that I think it could work for either boy or girl.

I think I will end up finishing it off as a wall hanging and getting some tone on tone yellow or green fabric and some cute buttons to put where the fabrics meet up.

What does everyone think? I am still figuring out what fabric I want to stitch it on. I was thinking blue 32 count but now I am thinking the blue would clash with a yellow or green fabric. I think I might have to stick with it on white.....I do have some green I think I could stitch it on but now I am thinking that that would be too much green. :thinks: :thinks: :thinks:

Very cute design and you could maybe try stitching it up on a pastel yellow and still make the color changes to the balloons?

that is very cute and I think Karen's suggestion of a pale yellow fabric is a good one. It wouldn't clash with any other colors that you mention and goes with either a little boy or a little girl.

Thanks for the suggestions! I went with a cream...it has a soft yellow hint to it and the colors looked really good on it. Here is after 2 hours:

I plan on working on it more tomorrow while watching hockey!

Very nice design and excellent start! I think changing the patch is a brilliant idea, and nice choice of fabric. :applesauce:

Thanks for the encouragement everyone  I have been working on it for the past hour and this is how far I am:

Image

It is coming along quickly I wouldn't be too surprised if I finish it tomorrow afternoon if I keep stitching it!

I was thinking though...it might look better as a bookmark. Its long and skinny so I might be able to back with some fabric...What is everyone's thoughts on that? I think it would make for a cute keepsake but I don't know if that would be useful at all!

Oh and Hockey is on at 4:30...GO CANUCKS!!! heheh..

Great idea! :applesauce:

Bookmarks are always useful and make excellent keepsakes!

I'd be proud to have that if I was your friend. If she has a 'Baby record' book it would fit in there well!
