:applesauce: Lovely work so far!!! Working with a higher count does take some time for the eyes to adjust.. I usually use reading glasses to help me out so that I don't feel like I'm straining my eyes

Great start! :applesauce: Even if you can only manage a few stitches a day due the size of the fabric, it's still progress and it will show!

Congratulations on starting your first HAED!

BTW - you mentioned having trouble getting the needle through the fabric. Just curious as to what size needle you are using. My first thought is that the needle may be too big for the fabric.

I do remember someone else mentioning that they had trouble getting the needle through the fabric, and turns out their needle was "worn out" - too blunt.

Great start! Ditto what Cayenne Cat said - check the size of your needle, I usually stitch with a size 28 tapestry needle regardless of the count of the fabric. Regarding your worry about the visible column lines - some stitchers do experience this (I never have) but after the project is washed they usually disappear. More often than not this occurs where pages of the chart meet (especially if you leave a project a while before stitching on it again) - to avoid that happening just stitch some stitches in the next page's first column to break up the harsh "page finish" line.

Look forward to seeing more updates!

Thanks so much everybody for your words of encouragement.

Cayenne Cat and Amanda - I'm using a size 26 needle. I'm not having trouble getting it through the fabric, I was just struggling with getting it through my threads at the back to anchor. I've eased the tension on my stitches now and it seems to be OK.

I seem to have totally adapted to using the magnifyer and hence managed to get quite a bit more done yesterday. Having said that, I ended up stiching too long as I ended up with a headache and felt quite dizzy in the evening so eventually had to throw in the towel (much to my annoyance - I was on a roll)

And thanks for the tip on stitching into the next column to avoid the page finish line. I think I'll try this on the 10x10 columns as well to see how I get along. :D

HAED - One update

Post by Skittles »

Blimey, nearly two months in and only just over half of the first page done.....but loving every minute of it. Looking quite "pink" at the moment, but I think for my first HAED it's probably quite good to not have too much colour change and confetti. As a reward to mysef for getting this far, I treated myself........to another HAED (I am officially addicted). Stash for the new one ("A New Day") should be arriving tomorrow and I'm planning to rotate, just not sure how yet (maybe one page on each, we'll see).

Anyway, here's the progress so far

:applesauce: Great progress. These take a long time to do so it is great that you are loving every minute of it. I will be in big trouble if I start not loving them since I have so many to do. I love this one as well as your new one also. The colors in that will be a nice break for you if you decide to rotate them. I like going from the less colorful to the real colorful ones as a change of pace. I am looking forward to your updates on this and your new start also

Great progress. :applesauce: At first glance, it looks like you are stitching a nice piece of hand dyed fabric. (of course, fabric has been on my mind lately). You will be amazed as you watch this come together. I look forward to your rotation updates.
