I had a :anotherfrog: the other day I was watching TV and not concentrating on my stitching enough when I realised I'd done about 200 stitches of the wrong colour  I looked at my husband in despair and told him I'd be spending hours getting them out with my scissors, then he says to me 'we have an unpicker in the cupboard' well I was gobsmacked we're talking a big beefy lorry driving biker guy here who does not sew...EVER  How did he know this? and I don't believe he bought it and I know I didn't :thinks:

Thanks to him it took me twenty minutes I may be puzzled but I'm a very happy puzzled!

Maybe the frog brought it as a peace offering?

I used to have one and I have no idea where it went. It vanished shortly after I met the frog for the first time actually... lol

What on earth is :anotherfrog: a term for? :D

I think if I discovered that much stitching wrong, I'd give up!

Oh man, what a great save by your husband. I usually use a stiletto to pull out my frogged stitches, and only resorting to scissors when that fails me. And sometimes I can even salvage the thread to redo the proper stitches. I do also have an unpicker, but it's so small that it's a pain to find in my stitching supplies cup whereas the stiletto is nice and tall.

Lucky to have one!! Those pesky :anotherfrog: :anotherfrog: are so annoying!

Hmmm, I did have an unpicker in my stash in Brazil, probably got lost on the move. :thinks:

Sorry Mr :anotherfrog: came and visited. That's amazing about your hubby though. Mine still struggles with what a needle looks like  I'm sure he has no idea what an unpicker looks like, let alone knows whether I have one or not.

When y'all say "unpicker", do you mean a stitch-ripper or is there another gadget out there? (Inquiring minds & al! )

I never thought about it TBH, It's been years since I've used one, I'm so used to doing it all by hand, which is great when my sewing machine jams half way through a seam >_<

Yeah. they mean a stitch ripper. But you can use a stiletto to gently pull out the frogged thread as it is easier to hold and it can get in under the stitches real easily.

When you were saying stiletto all I could think of was the heel of a shoe as here in the states the only time you here stiletto is when talking about high heel shoes. I googled and found what you really meant.

Glad I wasn't the only one imagining trying to pull out stiches with a shoe!

LOL. I'm in the states, too. It's just a tool I picked up in the quilting section. I'd heard they worked great as laying tools and a means to hold down cloth when machine sewing, so I just had to have this multipurpose tool! Though I find I use it more for the pulling of stitches than anything else.

random fact: a stiletto is also a type of small knife.
