Box lid

Post by Lizzieh »

I got given a wooden DMC storage box for my birthday with room to put some stitching in the lid. The design and threads that came with i is lovely but had literally hundrfeds of french knots in it.
So I have taken a free DMC design and changed the colours and am stitching it for my fourth 10 hour rotation piece.
Image

It is a design that Maud has done and uses as her avator. The box is a bit bigger than this so am going to find a border to put down the sides and maybe a narrower one top and bottom.
Back to HAED tulips now.

This is a lovely piece. Very autumnal! Those colors will look nice against a woodgrain. What is the gold color you have chosen?

Been meaning to reply to your question sooner Maggie. The gold colour I'm using is from Anchor multi range and is 1305 and the green is 1216. Just to be a rebel I am mixing my threads and the redy brown is DMC variations 4130 and the white is 4160. In real life the white has a very slight pinky/redy tinge to it but doesn't show up that well in photos.
Not 100% sure about it as I'm worried it sort of disappears but maybe if I use it in whatever border I do it will balance out.

Finished my box lid. Needed to add some bits to the side so did a google search and it came up with one of Agi's designs which I have adapted and used bits of.
