Ok, we're off like a herd of turtles. I'm posting a little bit early this morning because I'll be going to a Doctors appointment in a little while & didn't want to make y'all wait.

I had thought to use a random # generator website to pick my numbers (but then realized that I could figure out who would win when). So I decided to barrow my sons dice. He has a collection of them (he doesn’t play games with them, he just likes different dice). For today I used 5 of his 6-sided die (so all the upper #’s would be represented) I hope to barrow other die for other rolls, we’ll see.

16 Internet The following information was taken from the Wikipedia page about “Internet”. The internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks. It consists of millions of private, public, academic, business, and government networks, of local to global scope, that are linked by a broad array of electronic, wireless and optical networking technologies computer network system.
The origins of the Internet reach back to research of the 1960s, commissioned by the U.S. Government in collaboration with private commercial interests to build robust, fault-tolerant, and distributed computer networks. As of 2011 more than 2.2 billion people—nearly a third of Earth’s human population used the services of the internet.
There is no centralized governance in the technological implementation or policies for access and usage; each constituent network sets its own standards. Only the definitions of 2 principal name spaces on the internet, IP address (Internet Protocol address) and Domain Name System are directed by a maintainer organization.
If this stuff interests you, you can go to:

to read the full page. BE WARNED, not everything you read on the internet is the truth and many people dislike Wikipedia for the fact that almost anyone can author/alter a page.

Got both today, a good start... but historically when I start well, I poop out after getting halfway there. :P

I <3 Newegg! Our family uses them for almost all computer needs, and every couple of years when we upgrade, we use their service for assembling all the goodies we put together. It's a good deal and so much less frustrating than putting your own system together. My husband used to do that, but nowadays things like the CPU are so fragile and temperamental that the slightest wrong touch can cause problems.

Of course, the internet is my good friend, too. It's why I chose both of those numbers. :)

Got #19 today. I love NewEgg, it's where I tend to go for all my computer needs. My brother built his computer and a computer for a friend with items from there, and I've bought things to upgrade old computers from there as well.

Well, that was a good start! Here are day 2's numbers:

9 Dell & Gateway Computers
“The power to do more”

Again I’m using info straight from Wikipedia.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dell_computer" target="_blank

Dell is the 3rd largest PC vendor in the world. Instead of just a “computer in a box”, Dell will sell the individual a PC “configure to order”-that is configured to customer specifications.

Dell also sells many other consumer products manufactured by other companies. The company is well known for its innovations in supply chain management and electronic commerce, particularly its direct-sales model. It is the sixth largest company in Texas by total revenue, according to Fortune Magazine. It is the second largest non-oil company in Texas and the largest company in the Austin, Texas. The company is one of the largest technological corporations in the world, employing more than 103,300 people worldwide. Dell is listed at number 44 in the Fortune 500 list.

14 Floppy Disk

The following is a cut & paste from Wikipedia (sorry, but I do find their information easily obtainable).

A floppy disk, or diskette, is a disk storage medium composed of a disk of thin and flexible magnetic storage medium, sealed in a rectangular plastic carrier lined with fabric that removes dust particles. They are read and written by a floppy disk drive (FDD).
Floppy disks, initially as 8-inch (200 mm) media and later in 5.25-inch (133 mm) and 3.5-inch (89 mm) sizes, were a ubiquitous form of data storage and exchange from the mid-1970s well into the first decade of the 21st century.
By 2010, computer motherboards were rarely manufactured with floppy drive support; 3 1⁄2" floppies could be used as an external USB drive, but 5 1⁄4", 8", and non-standard drives could only be handled by old equipment.
While floppy disk drives still have some limited uses, especially with legacy industrial computer equipment, they have been superseded by data storage methods with much greater capacity, such as USB flash drives, portable external hard disk drives, optical discs, memory cards, and computer networks.
As Paul Harvey used to say “the rest of the story” is at:

:D Floppy disks for me! 2/10. I hope my good start doesn't "crash" before this is over. It is mind boggling how far we have come from the first personal computers.
