Mabel that's exactly what I was thinking.

In the beginning of the video I actually thought she was stitching her work from the back, and I was astounded she could do that without getting confused...until I realized it was actually the front of her work and she was ending all her threads there.

Rose wrote:I went and watched for just a short time. I really don't care to be told how to stitch. I do it for fun and when I start getting told that you HAVE to do it a certain way then I feel restricted and that takes the enjoyment out of it all. I prefer to do what makes me happy. :D

If it is a new stitch then the videos are good to watch but when it is just basic information I prefer the do what method I enjoy.

Well said, Rose!! :applesauce:
I watched for a few moments, too. I sometimes stab and poke and sometimes do the whole leg of the cross in one go.

Just someone with too much time on their hands like a lot of You-tube demos!

Stab method all the way for me. It's an interesting idea, but she's only using one strand over a low count fabric and I use two strands on a high count fabric, so I can't see it working for my stitching style.

I'd love to see her tackle confetti, though!

Have never seen anyone stitch like this before! It doesn't make sense having your threads sticking out the front! Especially with the count she was working on. Maybe it would have worked better on a higher count fabric? Or it might be less noticeable if the stitching was a picture rather than letters. Then again I'm not one to talk- the back of my work is messy ;) but it should be allowed to be cause that's the bit no one sees!!!

I sometimes stitch like that, although...better. Did you notice that her stitches didn't all lie the same way? She didn't even bother to run the thread under the top stitch of her middle diagonal three >_< Unless you're doing a textured effect your stitches really should all lie in the same direction. I plan my way across the chart the same way as she does and I sometimes use the sewing method she does, but generally I don't. I find if doesn't sit as neatly as other methods and if I'm getting the coverage I like, I find tat it splits the other threads if it's a densely stitched area. I also never secure my ends at the front. That's what the back is for.

I am trying to neaten up my stitching lately but this is insane! I'll stick with poking at it and hope for the best. As long as I'm having fun who cares?

If you watch several of her other vidseos she is doing it this way so the back is perfectly neat with only straight sticks because she does lots of stitching on things like towels where the backs are on show, however as another member says her fronts look awful to my eye and if i was going to that much bother about the back i would make sure to put the thread under the first part of the stitch to make it lie the same as the rest how hard can that be? Also she does say when she is working properly as opposed to showing how she would use more threads to cover the ones hidden at the front of the work.
Myself I would just cover the backs with a nice matching material and work it as normal
