Hello from Connecticut
Hi everyone. My name is Bill Reese and I'm new to this forum. I've been looking for a place to hang out and figured a group of people with a similar interest would be perfect! I've been cross stitching for about two years now, and I really love it. I find that it's about the best relaxation technique there is for me.
About myself: I'm a 49-year-old guy from a small town in Connecticut. I work for the State at the Department of Children and Families. It's a terrible job, honestly, and I have a tough time just going in sometimes. But it pays well and the benefits can't be beat. So, I come home and stitch a bit, and I feel better!
I've been married to a fantastic woman named Susan for three years now. We have a dog, two cats, a rat, and five chickens. We also have a small business making stained glass windows, and Susan also makes jewelry. Oh, and I just took up playing guitar! Figured I might be a little old for that, but what the heck ... it's something I've always wanted to do.
Right now I'm working on a cross stitch piece where I got the pattern from one of those websites that converts photos to cross stitch patterns. It's amazing to see how that works. Anyway, it's a picture of Susan, and it's really coming out great. It's roughly 12x12 on 14 count cloth, and I'm a little over halfway done now. It's really exciting to see it come together.
OK, I'm rambling a bit. I'm really looking forward to meeting you and hope that we will have some fun together. Take care for now!!!

A warm welcome from the chilly West of Scotland! You'll find many a kindred spirit here, and more enablers than you can shake a stick at. (not me. no. really.)

Hi, Bill...welcome to the forum from Colorado. I think you'll love it here.
I hope you'll share pictures of your "Susan" project, and others, as we do love photos.

Re: Hello from Connecticut
Hi all, and thank you so much for the warm welcome! I really hope to get to know you all (well, that may be a tall order!), or some of you, better! I've been working on a piece for some time now, probably five months, of my wife Susan. This is from a picture of her when we were first dating. We've been married for over three years now. Anyway, this is one of my favorite pics of her. I uploaded it to pic2pat and got a fantastic pattern. Here's a pic of how it's coming so far:
I'm a little over half done, as it continues down a few more inches. The finished piece will be roughly 12x12. I'll send updates as I go! I'm happy to meet you all and look forward to talking soon!
Bill
