Hello from Hertfordshire, UK

Post by sewso »

I have been reading lots of interesting things on this forum for a while, and have finally got around to registering. I love all types of needlework, sewing, knitting, spinning, but have recently been doing more cross stitch.
My trouble is that I can easily start too many things at once - and then I run out of time to do all that I want to.
Looking forward to learning even more about cross stitch now that I am a member of the forum.

 Hello and welcome to the forum from South Carolina. I think there are a few of us who understand starting too many things and not enough time, so you have definitely found a place with like minded people. One of the great things, I think, about cross stitching is that I'm always learning something new and there is so much more variety than most people who don't stitch aren't aware of.
I hope you will post pictures of your work. We love pictures. What types of projects do you like to do?

Haha...join the club! You're in the right place...I think we all have too many projects and/or too much stash and not enough time. What kinds of designs do you like? I hope you'll share pictures.

Oh, and welcome from Colorado.

hi and welcome from rural new york state, usa. i am an english teacher--11th and 12th grade.

i am a total anglophile though! glastonbury is the most sacred city on earth. my dear friend moved to bristol when she was 12 with her parents and now she lives near glastonbury.

i am fairly new to cross stitching but totally addicted. you will find lots of friends and wonderful help on this board. the people here mean so much to me and their knowledge and encouragement is invaluable.

i am pretty obsessive so i tend to start and finish one project through to the end--but this forum has taught me it's okay to have more than one project going. so currently i have two in the wings. right now i am stitching gifts. almost done!

welcome!
Linnea

God Bless!

Hi and Welcome.

I just moved to Hertfordshire, 2 months ago , I'm based in Stevenage.

I look forward seeing the many projects you are doing. I have the same problem with too many projects, and I don't know where I will put them all in the house. I just can't help myself.

Let me know if you ever want to get a cup of coffee and chat.

Hi and welcome!

I'm another one of those who starts too many things, with too little time. :)

I've found that everything gets done eventually, so I just try to prioritize the best that I can. Most importantly, I try to make sure I'm enjoying what I'm doing.

I hope you'll post some pictures!

Oh my goodness - this is such a friendly forum :-)
I am amazed and delighted by the warm welcome from so many different places around the world!
I will work out how to put up pictures of projects (although my efforts are those of a relative newcomer to cross stitch  ).
I am currently working on some Christmas cards on 14pt Aida from charts in Mary Hickmott's New Stitches magazine, and a geometric design that I am trying to work out for myself (with the help of MacStitch software) on evenweave.
To those with Hertfordshire connections, I am in Stevenage, (North Herts). So Heidi, a coffee sometime would be great, and kiwirach, I often meet my family to go shopping in both St Albans and Enfield - I will think about you in NZ next time I am in one of those places. Flosaxby, I am often in your old 'stamping ground' of Hitchin and Letchworth Edinburgh must be very different.
It is great to connect with people who understand the need to start lots of different things at once - sometimes you want to be creative and work something out, other times you just want to relax and do straightforward relaxing stitching that does not tax the brain.
Thanks again for the warm welcome :D

Don't let that stop you...we were all beginners at one point. I think you'll love it here and you'll learn a lot...but beware, we are a bunch of enablers.
