A moment of silence for Oso

Post by wwdiva »

I'm not sure if many of our stitching friends here who live outside of the Pacific Northwest area are aware of the tragic event that occurred last Saturday in the community of Oso Washington. A huge mudslide came down, covering several kilometres, destroying most of the whole town. 17 are confirmed dead, 90 are still missing. Searchers are working tirelessly in the hope that survivors may still be found. The Govenor of Washington state has everyone to observe a minute of silence at 10:30 am (approx. 1/2 hour from my posting) Pacific time, in honour of this horrible event.
Would all of you reading the forum this morning take a moment of your time to pause and think of the those lost, those working in horrendous conditions and of the fragility of our lives when we think of the tradgedy that took away a whole community last week.
Thank you.

Yes, we've been following the events up here in MN. Those poor families! I cannot imagine the living hell of watching bulldozers scoop through the wreckage looking for the dead. My heart aches--and prays--for some sort of closure.

Yes I saw that, so horribly sad, all those people lost. Praying for them all.

I am so sorry to read of this tragedy, I missed the official silence but have observed in now. My thoughts are with all of those involved.
