HAED World Travel Bookshelf - Update 9 Nov - Link added

Post by Oriettait »

When the first bookshelf was charted at HAED i thought, oh that is insane!! but than the World Travel Bookshelf came out.... well, I am a bit of a traveler so it was like my bucket list had been represented in a picture !! I thought I would just buy the pattern and never work on it, next thing I know I am pulling fabric and floss ad getting it ready!!
I am doing a bit of a test stitching but I am pretty confident I will tent stitch it 2 over 1 on a piece of 28 count ecru evenweave, actually it is the fabric I received from Rose when we swapped a piece of 18 count magic guide (thanks again Rose!!! )
I choose to work on the normal sized pattern but the large print pages, this way I don't need to enlarge them.
I prefer not to think about it much but the pattern is 92 pages   I do need to improve my stitching speed! this pattern need a :liontamper: :D
Here the material toss
Image
and how it will eventually, in a few decades, looks like @rotfl:

WISH ME LUCK!!!

:whoop: I am awestruck at this chart and absolutely admire you for choosing the normal sized pattern but the large print pages. Just think that you will be able to complete each page a bit faster. And there are so many different items on the bookshelf that you will have lots of little finishes along the way. Also I find that tent stitching really makes a difference. The pieces I am doing with tenting on 28 count have great coverage and do go faster. I am so looking forward to your progress updates! Lots please. This requires pulling up the magic bench with a :tea: and a :cake: for watching.

Wow that looks amazing. Much braver than I am that's for sure. I have a HAED sitting in its package and sometimes I notice it and shuffle it further back. Nice pattern and all. Just a bit daunting.

Can't wait for progress updates.

Good question... I don't really know... usually I stay concentrated on one project as long as it keeps me interested, this one has so many scenes that each one should feel like a small finish... it does have an insane amount of confetti on every page so I will probably need to take a break at some point, we will see...

I am about 600 stitches in and I am deciding if I will keep working on the 28 count or if I switch to the usual 25... I am in love with the coverage I get on the 28 but it does get very crowded and hard to push the needle through.... the project is so big and detailed... I don't really want to have extra difficulties... :thinks: :thinks:

Well with much sadness I had to give up the 28 count fabric and start over with the 25 count ecru magic guide I originally bought for this. I was over 600 stitches into it and it was hard to start over but there were still like 405900 stitches to go and it was just not working for me. Stitching over one, even tent stitches, made everything too crowded and was driving me nuts.
This is where I stopped
Image
And where I am now 400 stitches in and loving it again
Image
I will frog the other part sooner or later and will use the fabric on a over two project where it will work just fine

:applesauce: :applesauce: Much better to make the change now rather than later! Both looked good to me, but what counts is what looks good to you and feels good and is fun to stitch! :whoop: for your new new start. I can't wait to see your updates. So many things in that design would put me in a :tizzy: though I've thought about it.
