Well, I am a few days late, but have joined and am now going to look for flosses and fabric. This will be my first SAL, and it really has me excited! Thanks Shannon.

Basically every few weeks a new stage is released and everyone stitches along to completion. Some people will put it away for a while but eventually pull it out again while others love the mystery of what they are stitching and will work along with a group of others stitching the exact same thing and eventually everyone will finish roughly the same time if you keep up with the stages.

Some stitch alongs (SAL) are free while others require a bit of money to participate. This one however is a free one and all you have to do is join the Facebook group and the files will be listed in the "files" section of the group once you have been accepted.

I hope that answers your question :)

It will be my first time stitching on blue Aida. I considered just doing it on what I had in my stash, but decided it would be fun to try the blue since it is my first SAL.
That's awesome Shadyglade! The blue does look wonderful with these colours :)

I'm going to start this when I get caught up on my other SAL's. I'm excited to get it going, but I know that I really MUST get a handle on the other ones or I'll just spiral out of control. :tizzy:

There is no rush to start or finish :) if you just wanted to do the little houses as ornaments than that's fine or if you don't get around to it until next year then that's fine too! :)

Just so you know the second part has been released today:

Only additional supplies needed are DMC 3776 and Mill Hill Beads 00165 (Christmas Red) and 00167 (Christmas Green) That should be it for supplies as well for the full project :D

I started this last night with the upper left corner of the frame. I'll try to get most of the frame done in that quadrant before starting the first house but may not be able to resist that cute house!

Oh yay, I'm so excited and itching to start this one! I thought I would be able to as soon as my fabric arrived, but had to jump to another project because I had to test stitch one area to see if I would need to start over on new fabric (it's a Christmas present, so I can't bear to leave it to the last minute and run out of time because I had to start over late  ). Anyway, now I'm waiting for a new q-snap frame before I can start... ugh!

Luckily I have the extra color of DMC in my stash (just have to dig it out) but I will need to add the MH beads to my next shopping list. Good thing those don't go on until the end!

Here's a look at how the frame stitches up on blue aida. I'll start working on the first gingerbread house now & finish the frame later.

Haha Shannon. I figured people on the forum that are also on your FB page would put 2 + 2 together when they saw the same picture posted. I'm enjoying the design so far!

Hey Shannon, quick question. I assume the backstitch in black is to be done with 1 strand? I didn't see it on the pattern (or it's there and I am totally blind, also a possibility), so I am just being a nervous nelly and wanting to check. :)

Oh yes! 1 strand of 310 for back stitching :)

First gingerbread house is complete except for beads & backstitching. I'm thinking the beads should go first since the b/s goes around them?? I've used beads before but have never run into b/s around beads so I'm not sure. This was quick and fun to stitch though & I can't wait for the other houses. I'll work on the frame some more while I wait.
