Wow! Just superb!
Congratulations on a beautiful finish :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:
I hope your dad's health improves, it must be worrying for you with him in and out of hospital.
If you were going to wash it (and I would) dilute fairy liquid in lukewarm water and plenty of rinsing works wonders. The piece is so pale and you've been working on him for so long, I don't expect you realise how grubby it may have got, no matter how hard you tried to keep him clean.
Please remember to post a picture of him all framed up

Thanks very much, Jo - that's a good point about it being pale. I know I should wash him but I'm terrified the colours are going to run or the fabric will shrink or some of the stitches will come undone if they're not anchored securely enough or any number of other disasters I haven't thought of. But then if I don't wash him and he discolours over time in the frame I'll kick myself. Argh! Decisions!! :tizzy: :tizzy: :tizzy:

Such a beautiful piece. Congratulations! :applesauce: :applesauce:

Good luck with washing him; it does make a difference even if you can't see any obvious dirt. I handwash mine gently using liquid wool/silk detergent, very diluted or it's hard to rinse out. Regarding loose threads escaping - as it gets wet everything swells a bit so if anything they should be more firmly anchored rather than less. Still a bit scary though!

He's beautiful and it's definitely a finish worthy of champagne. Wonderful, wonderful finish!! He's been one of my favorites to watch here because he's just so majestic and life-like. I can't to see him all framed up and proudly displayed.

He is spectacular! Wow!
Thank you so much for sharing him with us. I am now more certain than ever that I must at least attempt a HAED. The detail is stunning. Lobo is calling me very loudly right now.

Wash it. It'll be fine. I know it can be scary, but it'll be fine.

That is stunningly wonderful! Well done it's a masterpiece!

I wouldn't advise you not to wash it :) just use tepid water and a mild soap and swish it gently, it'll be fine and it will bring the whites out even better.
