dragonenes project - Celtic Autumn

Post by dragonene »

Image

This is my take on Celtic Autumn, I used one of the conversions for the lady but I decided to put an archway around her instead of the background. I used Caron Wildflowers burnt toast and flame for the leaves, it is a bit more 'abstract' than I intended!

I feel like I have been stitching her forever but I think in total it's about 6 weeks, I started her in august 2013, my stitchy bug keeps coming and going which is frustrating, this is going to be a gift for my godmother, I'm hoping to stitch celtic summer too and give them as a pair.

stunning! WOW! you have done astounding work on the border. and her hair is so lush. i should think it will be easier or more fun to fill in the dress now. i don't see the border as abstract so much as soft. perfect fit. i look forward to seeing more! thanks for sharing!

WOW That is a fabulous piece of stitching you have done and I just love all the colours, especially the archway. What a neat idea to put it around her, really sets it off and gives a great impression of her walking somewhere for a purpose.

Well Done, beautiful stitching. :applesauce: :applesauce:

Hi everyone :) Here are the projects that I have been working on during the year.

I finished Celtic Autumn and added her sister Celtic Spring, these are my godmothers birthday present but I'm planning on framing them myself so she will get them next year. I decided to use a cherry blossom branch, and I added a couple of tiny mill hill butterflys. Overall I'm pretty pleased with how they both turned out.

I've decided to stitch Stockings as gifts for my family here are the first two, I only have another 12 to go! At the rate I'm going it's going to be a 12 year project! The Faithful Friends Stocking by HAED is for my 88 year old gran, she's never had a stocking so I'm pretty excited to give it to her for Christmas. I am terrible with a sewing machine so mum is putting it all together for me.

Your godmother is going to be delighted and I know your grandmother is going to love love love her very first beautiful stocking. And your Dad. And if you have as many to stitch as you said, you are going to have some very happy family members! Hope to see more pictures as you do these!
