Mrs MBK's 2015 Stitching Year! 28/12/15
Here is a shiny new thread for my 2015 stitching! As some of you know, this year I have set myself a little challenge which I have codenamed Operation Threadporn. The idea being that I use as many of my hand dyed silks, cottons and perles in my projects throughout the year - using no duplicates . As part of this little challenge, each month along with my other stitching, I will pick a freebie design from the hundreds on my hard drive to stitch up and finish finish. I have some really pretty ones I've collected and they deserve to be stitched up! I'm also restarting Mabel's SOTW SAL as it means there will always be a little hardanger featured in my stitching each month and they will also be an excellent way to use my collection of Carons !
I had no projects to carry over from 2014 - everything is a new start, so here is what I got up to this month!
I started Red by Mirabilia on 1 January as my New Year's New Start, stitched on Belfast Winter Skies by Crafty Kitten, here's where I got to:
I also started Les Dentelles SAL by Brodeuse Bressane using Oatmeal Cashel and Anchor stranded and perle cotton in 778 and 387 (ecru) and Caron Wildflowers in Maple as an accent colour. I'm up to Part 3:
Here are my Threadporn projects for January, freebies from Jardin Prive which I have wanted to stitch for ages! They are stitched on various hand dyed 28ct fabric and use Mo's silks and Rainbow Gallery PTBs and PSLBs. I finished them as little pillows:
And last but not least, my restitch of Mabel's January SOTW on 25ct Lugana using DMC perles and a Stef Francis #5:
My stitching this month has seen me use 1.59% of my hand dyed stash - everyone has to start somewhere! I am aiming at using 12% - 15% over the year. I've chosen to calculate the percentage as then I don't have to reveal the true number of threads I have, but also it means that the more threads I buy the more threads I have to use. This tactic may work in calming my thread buying - that and the fact that my sister is in charge of my stash budget this year .
I'm really loving the way I have chosen to stitch this year and am looking forward to stitching a much broader range of patterns than previously. I would also like to say a special thank you to Mabel who as proven a great source of inspiration and information this month especially and I am excited to embark on new stitching experiences this year !

I love the little seasonal trees (I'm a "season" nut) and just downloaded them. It'll be awhile I'm sure before I get to them, so until I do, I'll have fun watching you.
Threadporn - way to grab our attention.

This is a lot of fun to watch grown and I am sure you are having fun too Amanda with all the new charts and working out what threads to use up next. A fabulous idea and one I may try later next year.

What are the new challenges you have set yourself? (Be careful - new challenges almost always necessitate new stash. Trust me. I know.)

Re: Mrs Milkybar Kid's 2015 Operation Threadporn
New stash is allowed, just not new threads if my sister has any say in the matter! Let's just say thanks to you Mabel I am keenly anticipating a little parcel from Sarah Homfray in the next day or two.......on the one hand I'm hoping I'll love my new little project - but on the other I know my bank balance won't thank me for it if I do . I'm telling myself that the whitework I also want to expand my repertoire with will make up for the expense........Mabel Figworthy wrote:Lovely projects !
