Pen Pal?

Post by wjreese »

Hello everyone!

I hope you all had a great Christmas and will have an equally great New Year! I've been sort of hunting around for a pen pal lately, mainly because I miss the old fashioned pen and paper routine, and I'd really like to correspond with someone. I've tried pen pal web sites, but they're either pay sites or seem to be grounds for people looking for more than a platonic friendship! Then I thought I should try here! We've already got something in common, and it would be nice to get to know you better.

As for me, I'm a 51 year old guy, happily married. My wife Susan and I are only a month or so away from finally, officially, adopting our 13 year old daughter. I like to cross-stitch (obviously), usually the great big, take-a-year-and-a-half-to-finish sort. I love to read all sorts of things, but lately I've mainly been into historical fiction. I have a 2014 Harley Fat Boy, which is by far the nicest vehicle in our family fleet.

I'm employed by the State of CT Department of Children and Families. It's a rotten job, but it pays well. In my previous life I was a morning radio announcer for 25 years.

Anyway, I'd love to hear from you. I'm looking for either males or females, and would love to strike up a pen pal relationship with someone from Europe, though pretty much anywhere is fine with me!

Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you!

Hello Bill and welcome to the forum
For various reasons I'm not up for being a pen pal at the moment but I'm sure there will be candidates around here :-) - and as you say, you've got something in common already.
Quite a milestone to be adopting your daughter, although it sounds as though she is very much that already, whatever the official papers say!

Hi, and welcome to the forum from the sunny West of Scotland! There are stitchers from all over the world here at CSF, and I'm sure someone will be up for being your pen pal. In the meantime, wander around the forum. We'd love to see how you are getting on with your "take-a-year-and-a-half-to-finish" stitching. :camera: We have a magic bench where we sit and cheer you on. :wip: (And then we all go to the Stash and Grab for a refreshing something or other.)

Hi Bill and family,
I know what you mean about pen and paper correspondence.I had penpals from age 6
In my quilting years I had 16 penpals and still correspond(by email) with two after 33 years.
